LVB2 Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 hey guys i was just wondering i got thee new update but i dont see no LAA flag can anyone tell me where its at and do i need to check it
Keukotis Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 The update seems to have done nothing but check a box on the executable that allows it to use up to 4GB of RAM. There's no option you need to mess with.
Az75 Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 No need to do something yourself. The patch replaces the TESV.exe... simply run the game directly via steam, no need fot the 4gb.exe anymore.
RunningBare Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 I do find it odd that it's not an option, enabling LAA by default could be problematic on 32 bit systems with less than 3 gig of memory, especially if the system has a 1 gig graphics card.
Robynah Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 You shouldn't need to do anything. LAA is not the same thing as a 64bit executable.
LVB2 Posted December 20, 2011 Author Posted December 20, 2011 oh ok i was just wondering because my exe still say TESV.exe i didnt see any LAA.exe or TESVLAA.exe
Robynah Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 (edited) All that's changed is that the exe has had the large address aware flag turned set. This means under a 64bit OS the exe can now address up to 4gb memory rather than 2gb. It will make no differene at all to those with 32bit OS unless they have turned on LAA support in their OS in which case they should understand what they are doing. --- to explain a bit more. 32bits translates to 4gb of memory. Windows does not traditionally let applications access this full 4gb in order to reserve memory for the OS etc... hence apps are capped to 2gb.LAA allows them access the full 4gb... not at all the same thing as a 64bit app which can (in theory) access 1000s of gbs of memory. Robynah Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 You can (wuth some text editing) turn on LAA support in 32bit windows. It's not advised however.
