Deleted133263User
I have always linked anything on Nexus starting with a www. Recently I have noticed people linking to the same pages without www. in the URL For instance ... http: // tesnexus.com / content / modmanager / is the same as http: // www.tesnexus.com / content / modmanager / Both seem to work (apart from the former not recognising my saved user name and password, because I haven't allowed it to yet), and have the same content. I am just curious as to why we have the above - And could this present confusion with utilities referencing download locations ?
Werne
It works for me too, Firefox automatically adds the www before the rest of the link.
Pronam
It doesn't matter what you use, both is fine. Today it just means the url is shorter as almost all browsers even support not using Http://. All that it indeed can cause is a bit of confusion as people are used to the www-part. Some sites force to use www (google) and some don't, like nexus. The only difference on here nexus or the forums for example, is that it won't generate proper bbcode unless you use Http://. The best thing to do? Use www anyway, the urls aren't that much short in the first place anyway and it avoids any possible confusion. It makes some difference if you have a small site and want to be noticed at google, but that's not the case here and thus at any choice it'll make little difference.
