CTD when entering or leaving house

Hi,

I'm having CTD when entering or leaving a house/city, so far it seems totally random but it happens every 30 to 50min (approximately), i had one leaving castle windhelm, one when entering talos's temple and another entering black briar's manor.

 

My computer's specs are :

CPU : I5 4690K OC @ 4.5Ghz

RAM : 16GB avexir

SSD : Geil Zenith 120 (Only Skyrim is installed in it) with 22.3Gb of free space.

GPU : MSI GTX 970 @ 1294Mhz, 1433Mhz(boost) ; 1993Mhz (mem).

I don't know what other infos are usefull, as i have no idea what is the "process" to fix this genre of ctd. If any is needed i will gladly provide them.

I'm going to try the run the game without gpu OC, i suspect it to be an issue. i'll keep this thread updated.

ELFX should come after SMIM as per instructions, not sure if you've installed them in that order.

Generally, my install order on NMM, or my Load order for MO is something like this:
Skyrim
Update
Dawnguard
Hearthfire
Dragonborn
USLEEP
SKSE Scripts (make sure these are properly installed and if you don't have it, you better get it)
[Any mods that are utilities] (Bug fixes, safety load, better messagebox controls,...)
[Custom Body Meshes]
[Custom Body Textures]
[All other ESPs]
[Animations]
[Custom Skeleton](Xp32mse,...)
Alternate Start
Bashed Patch
Dual Sheath Patch

Once your mods are arranged this way, I run LOOT and let it set the priority of those it wants to in opposition to this load order. My game rarely ever crashes.

Also, if you are using Mod Organizer, your left pane needs to match your right fairly closely (except generally texture mods). I will usually sort my left pane load order as mentioned above, then match it on the right; load LOOT and sort with it, then rearrange the left pane to match the right.

If you are not, I would suggest utilizing an SKSE.ini file. That can help with memory ctds like you are possibly having. My guess would be it is a crash because of your skeleton not being at the bottom of your load order, but not sure. Random CTDs are finicky.

I installed mods following this order :

• Started by installing the tools TES5Edit, WryeBash, SKSE, FNIS, LOOT and some mods like SKYUI or FISS, NetIO.
• Then Installed mods following RealVisionENBForCoT(Optional But recommended mods) i went step by step (so i'm using ENB).
• Then i installed bodys HDT and such.
• After, i installed some mods from Skyrim Ultimate Modding Guide, Gameplay and Immersion always checking for compatibility issues.
• And finally armors/weapons.

I don't know if it's a safe install order, should i re-install the mods and start a fresh game? it's not something i like as it takes so long to do some quests lol and i yet have to explore some new locations. But if it makes the game more stable i'm okay with it.

 

I changed my load order, and placed ELFX after SMIM, loaded XPMSE very close to the end of the list just over Alternate Start. i'm gonna give it a shot and play for a while see how it goes.

I do not use MO but NMM (i find MO a bit complicated lol).

I do use SKSE but no memory patch, i use Crash Fixes and set UseOSAllocators=1, should i switch to SKSE mem patch?

 

 

About the OC, i played with my GPU at stock and while it didnt crash i'm not convinced lol, i will give it another go and see.

 

 

 

I don't know if it's part of the topic, but it may be related, i get some HUGE fps drops indoors (about 30fps), i get a general 40 to 60 fps outside (an average of 54) outside, indoors tho i sometimes reach 20fps (for no apparent reason)
for exemple :

in DragonsReach i'm about 27, while i'm about 45 just outside of it.

My GPU/CPU/VRAM/RAM are not "at max" indoors and using Ordenador, Disabling ELFX, ENB, NPCOverhaul (Like RSChild, Dogs, Bijin) didnt even bring back 1fps.

I suggest if you think MO is complex, here is a video that would help you understand it. It really is a much better tool to use than NMM in my own opinion. I can fling mods around this way and that without having to worry about overwriting and such things like in NMM. Just like NMM, it takes a little getting used to, but once you do, I feel it's better.

 

Crash Fixes might work in what I'm talking about as it touches on the SKSE.ini

 

Your problems may be fixed, however due to the way Skyrim saves games, it essentially bakes scripts into your game. Because of this, when you move mods or delete them, it can cause CTDs. It is always best to start a new game after your mod set up is done instead of playing on an old save. If you are wanting to try out a mod, save before hand and thoroughly test it before saving. If it doesn't work out, uninstall and load your old save.

 

If you are using Windows 10, try to disable your xbox dvr setting in the Xbox app of your start menu. Even if you haven't ever used it, it screws with your FPS. Other than that, I'm not sure.

Sorry for taking long to answer had a few things to do,

 

I'm gonna give MO a try and learn to use it it looks to be much more powerfull than NMM.

 

I know there is no way to fix a save, or at least no "good" way, i guess i'm gonna try and enjoy the game even if it means having to CTD for unknown reason lol.

 

 

About the Xbox DVD how can i disable it?

Click on the three horizontal bars in the upper left.

Go down to settings at the bottom.

Go to the Game DVR tab in the middle upper portion of the screen

Turn off.
