How to add custom txt/elements to HUD (not DEF_UI etc.)

Hi there.

I'm looking for a way to alter the HUD in the game w & w/o power armor. By alter I mean adding custom text or lines to the HUD, which e.g. snaps with the PA HUD and disappears by exiting the PA like the PA overlay itself.

I'm not good in english, so I hope I explained well what I'm looking for.

Maybe this short video will help.

There's no easy way to modify the HUD, you have to do things with flash files. DEF UI is about the most anyone has figured out and release so far, here's some steps on what to edit to do things like that:

Adding new things would be a challenge, though absolutely possible if you have the patience to figure it out!

Ok, I gotcha. You want to edit the HUD layout entirely. Like DEF_UI but not DEF_UI.

Well then you gotta learn AS3 (Actionscript 3) and probably you still need to know a bit Papyrus to get the elements to behave in certain manners depending on the game. This will probably take a lot of dedication unless you have prior experience. kinggath's link is indeed useful for this.

You could change some stuff around in the textures and/or meshes for the interface as well if you want for example a permanent custom widget.

Poke around in Data\Textures\Interface\ and Data\Meshes\Interface\.

I recently worked through kinggath linked tutorial and used the linked softwares, but all I saw was all greek for me :pinch:

Just a line of text that is showing when the HUD (normal and PA) shows up and disappears when the HUD disappears, never thought it could be like rocket science.
