TJCSalisbury
Staves in TES have always been... lame, to be blunt. A staff in most fantastical stories and universes is an artifact of great power which radiates through all magic the wielders performs, and not just one specific action. I have a dream of a mod where Staves are no longer just one-spell rechargeable, but grant attribute bonuses, situational spells, and damage/duration bonuses for specific schools of magic. Imagine if you found the Staff of Thunder's Fury.Only one Staff of Power can be carried at a time.Destruction Skill must be 50 or higher to wield. The staff would be held in one hand granting you the ability to regenerate your mana reserves by %120, but if you fully deplete your reserves the staff's power kicks back with a powerful electric shock disabling you for a moment. The staff also improves your lightning magic damage by %20 and reduces costs by %20, but reduces other magical damage and increases costs by %20.In moments of dire-need, one may activate the power of the staff itself, imbuing the wielder with the essence of the storm, allowing them to teleport forward a short distance, up to 3 times as a bolt of lightning to escape danger, only usable in combat and with health below %50.(If requirements met, then tap as if performing a normal one handed attack to activate.)In a situation of overwhelming odds, facing 10+ enemies within 50m, the Staff may be pushed to the limits of its power to summon forth a raging Hurricane striking all in range, in high frequency and at random, with bolts of furious lightning. The storm persists until all enemies are dead or out of range. May only be used once a week. Wielder's mana pool is halved (increasing towards full each day) and cannot benefit from "Well Rested" for one week as the remaining electrical energies surge and dissipate from his/her body. (If requirements are met, then hold as if performing a power attack to activate.) Adding special staves like the Staff of Thunder's Fury, altering the bonuses of all staves, and adding drawbacks to even the most basic of staves would make them truly a weapon for Mages and Mages alone. The staff you have equipped would completely define your mage-gameplay and approach to situation because any other approach would be met with serious drawbacks. Staves would no longer be a tool for the unskilled, or kept in a pile in your backpack. Which staff you wield into an adventure will define how you approach it entirely. Will you use the shadows and illusions to sneak, trick, and confuse your way through a castle of crazed fanatics, or will you shatter the courtyard gateway with dragon's fire and rain hell's fury from the sky, recklessly incinerating all in your path? If I could find someone with the skills to create a mod like this, I would love to give my input and design ideas to assist in its creation.
