FrugiLentesco
The mod I'm most wanting for isn't all that fancy. No more epic quests, no more fancy graphics... The thing I would most love to do, is walk during conversations. Unless I'm playing a character who's paralysed from the neck down, I would like to do more than patiently wait for the other to spill their lines. Being locked in place when in 'conversation mode' is the most immersion breaking and claustrophobia inducing way to handle speech, and seems so unnecessary as well. Walking away would finally be a real option, with the same function as cancelling out of the conversation. NPC already have snarky remarks for that! Of course, an alternative control method would have to be devised to manage the few choices you have. The obvious suggestion would be arrow keys on keyboard (or otherwise bindable somehow, especially for the left-handed), and the D-pad for those using a controller. I have not been able to find such a thing, so if there's already one, please point the way. I have no modding experience, so I would not know where to start with such a thing. But perhaps there's people who support this idea, and perhaps one of those people would know how to mod it so.
WolfScribe
Maybe some kind of cutscene thing like in mass effect.. where the characters have 'stading around talking' animations?
FrugiLentesco
A cutscene-like thing would not do, imo. That is just another way of presenting a loss of player control. But I feel that in a game like this, player control should always be there when the player character is in control, the same way the Half-Life games present conversation. I'd like to sheathe my weapon while talking, look away, walk away, even fight and cast spells. Maybe the other character could walk along while talking. The animation system surely doesn't prohibit that. So I'm hoping that it'll be possible to ditch the restrictions that are in place, while keeping the rest. The dialogue options would still be there, selectable with d-pad up/down, arrow keys, scroll wheel or what have you, but you're not rooted to the spot, and your field of vision is not restricted to a 60 degree angle. Of course, I don't really know what would fall apart if that happens, NPC's that would have been out of view could be walking in place, maybe Bethesda temporarily disables things while in conversation mode. But then again, it might just be a matter of changing a PlayerUnableToLookAroundAndMoveWhileTalking = 1 and messing with the control scheme a bit.
