Csukar
Hey guys, I'm using the latest enb with a customised version of photoreal enb, I can play buttery smooth with 50-60 fps and the game looks and plays great, but after playing for a while (can range from 10 minutes to a couple of hours) I will suddenly drop to about 25-35 fps, restarting the game doesn't fix it, I actually have to hard reset my computer to make it work again, any idea why? panurgy
This isn't enough information to do anything other than make wild guesses. Are you on SSE or Classic? The SSE ENB is new and will likely have problems for a few months as bugs are discovered and fixed. Skyrim, unlike most games, is CPU bound. When a lot of NPCs or spawns appear in your cell, there may be slowdowns. When a lot of scripts fire off, there may also be slowdowns. Mods that add a lot of clutter to an area can also do this, though in this case it IS a GPU issue. I use Enhanced Towns and Cities, and I drop nearly 10 FPS in some areas that that mod changes. Anyway, the point is that if we don't know anything about your setup or have any specifics, we can only guess. Are you seeing the problem everywhere, indoors, outside, in every region? Have you continued playing for long after your FPS drops?

On Skyrim LE using a GTX 970 and FX 8350 only seems to happen outdoors and at completley random times, been doing it since I had no other mods except for enb and a few others like smim and 2k hd textures, yes tried playing afterwards for about 20 minutes and the framerate stays the same, sometimes as low as 10 fps, restarting the game doesn't fix it, I have to log out of windows and log back in or hard reset my computer to make it stop. repusDude
Here's some ideas -Sounds like there is a background program started to run during your Skyrim gameplay. - usually just "quit/close Skyrim and then launch/play skyrim " action will flush any memory VRAM buildup. Or try PCB on console during Skyrim gameplay. - try using ENB boost and/or ENB performance options. - are you using a laptop? When low in battery, the performance will be reduced. panurgy
The combination of a GTX 970 (fast) and FX 8350 (not as fast), makes me wonder if it's CPU related. I'm not dissing the chip, but Skyrim uses a lot of AI, and that's all CPU. Have you tested without ENB to see if you have the same problem? Regarding ENB:Which ENB preset are you using?Have you correctly sized your enblocal.ini variables with Boris' vramsizetest?ReservedMemorySizeMb and VideoMemorySizeMb need to be set for your hardware. Don't use any enblocal that's packaged with a preset, because it's not setup for your machine (you may want to copy the ProxyLibrary setting, if the preset uses SweetFx or other non-ENB libraries). You could experiment with turning down quality settings, sample size or size scale settings, too. Even with a 970, some ENBs will bring your system to it's knees. K ENB, for example, is tuned for dual GPUs. There are also other presets that are more for super hardware or screenshots, rather than actual play. Make a backup of your enbseries.ini, and try these: [sSAO_SSIL]EnableSupersampling=falseSizeScale=0.75 // 0.5 for lower quality, better performanceSourceTexturesScale=0.75 // 0.5 for LQ, high performance [DEPTHOFFIELD]Quality=1 [REFLECTION]EnableSupersampling=false If you don't see a noticeable improvement, revert to your backup. Generally speaking for all sections:EnableSuperSampling is expensiveQuality settings range from -1 (extreme quality, huge performance hit) to 1 (LQ, best performance)SizeScale and SourceTexturesScale range from 0.0 (low quality) to 1.0 (low performance), 0.5 - 0.75 is probably "good enough" The other issue is that some ENB presets have multiple weather settings (you'll see them in the enbseries folder). If so, you'd have to change the corresponding enbseries.ini for each type of weather. In that case, choose one weather, make the changes, and test only for that weather to see if it's worth it. Csukar
It only seems to happen with an enb active and after it has happened if i disable the enb my framerate is lower without it too. Tried lots of presets about 10+ including a few simple presets with little to no performance loss and it still seems to happen.I have noticed since posting this though that when the frame rate drops it's as if an adaptive vsync has enabled itself, my framerate will be between 25 - 30 but will never go past 30.It's a pain as i have to shut down skyrim and log out of windows and log back in every hour or so.I will try changing my vram settings and see if that helps at all and report back. panurgy
Are you using any apps for GPU clocking or monitoring? Some of them cause problems with ENB. If you disable ENB and still have the issue, there's something weird going on. It's like another app or process is interfering.
