speedysam267
okay I've got a problem but I'm not sure if its that I'm looking for a solution through the wrong program or what. I can't access the .nif files for any race (except rens, Race_Human, _Human... these are related to mods *I think*) I cant access the argonian meshes, brenton meshes or any of the other original races. however, I'm looking for this though the "races" window in the TES construction set, when I look for these with Obedit's resource viewer I can see the argonian and etc. directories and open them and see the .nif and other files. is this normal if you are trying to edit a race in TES CS or should I be using a different program. the files I'm looking for seem hidden even when I go and try to get at them with explorer and I haven't found a way to "un-hide" them. do I have to reinstall oblivion? will the mods I have reappear in the data directory or would I have to unzip them from the original .zip archive? -Thanks
malonn
Are you trying to use the vanilla Oblivion meshes and textures? If so, they are located in the corresponding BSA files in your data directory. You'll need to extract them to be able to edit them with the CS, or you could duplicate a certain race and keep the links to that races meshes and textures. The files aren't hidden, they are in BSA files. The CS can't extract from the BSA files (AFAIK), use BSA Commander or Oblivion Mod Manager to extract the files you want first and then do whatever you want to them. speedysam267
thanks Malonn, I actually just figured that out, I looked at the system log in Obedit after opening the reference window and saw the it was opening up BSA files so I used BSA commander or something to extract them into a folder. thanks for the fast reply though! props to you!
