Marcus Wolfe Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 I saw the one of the freakiest ads on the side of a bus this morning. It said: "Obay, for when other parental controls like shouting don't work." Then I came home on the bus and saw another ad shown in the link somewhere in this post. It freaked me out. I googled it and [ url=http://torontoist.com/2008/02/obay.php]This is What I Found[/url] Freaky or what?
freddycashmercury Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 It's certainly funny. I wonder if Senior Cruise had anything to do with it..... :P
Marcus Wolfe Posted February 22, 2008 Author Posted February 22, 2008 Doesn't it at least scare you that someone was faking this Sh*t? I mean when I first saw it in the morning, I was like "woah, that can't possibly be real"But it was on a bus, so I knew that it was no minor prank. And It was very Professionally done, so I had to make sure once and for all it was someone's sick joke.
Vagrant0 Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 I'd buy it... Free will is such a terrible thing...
Marcus Wolfe Posted February 23, 2008 Author Posted February 23, 2008 OH NO! THEY'VE ALREADY GOT VAGRANT! NNOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Man, could you even sell something like that? And if so, could you do it legally? Cause if so, that Obay stuff must be a key ingredient in Do As I Say Darts

Marcus Wolfe Posted February 23, 2008 Author Posted February 23, 2008 Uuugghhhh.......scary. Is this really where the world is headed?
Vagrant0 Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Uuugghhhh.......scary. Is this really where the world is headed? No reason to get freaked out. If it existed, there would be serious moral objections to its use (especially when there may be even worse uses than prescribed). Just because North Korea and some other parts of the world have gone nuts doesn't mean everyone is down for this sort of thing... Least of all Canadians... I mean comeon, you guys don't even have half the social problems as your neighbor to the south. You should have read... This is some marketing thing being run by a college, it is designed to create a controversy. Chances are it's an ad for promoting their liberal arts department or to try and encourage people to be more unique.
Marcus Wolfe Posted February 24, 2008 Author Posted February 24, 2008 I did read it........ Also, this could be a protest against all the medicated kids in this country (including myself)
IbisOverhead Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Considering the rather high ammount of drugging of children with this convenient diagnosis of "attention deficit disorder" and others .. which in some cases is just shorthand for 'your kid's got the high energy of a kid' - I don't find it at all odd that this ad campaign caused confusion. I gleaned from the articles about it that they were trying to protest the myriad drugging of children into adult-acceptable behavior. But I think they actually caused more confusion with it and it is amusing that groups such as Scientology had the finger pointed at them as the originators.
