Krem
Hrms.. perhaps we could add slavery and prostitution.. And, if you're sick enough, have those two connected.
Velyanthe
Slavery wouldn't be correct lore-wise, but there could be underground slavery.
cppcooper
Well you seem intelligent, and that OP has been quite clearly thought out so i will pretty much take your word for it that the mod would have a desirable effect. However there is one thing I didn't spot when skimming through that, despite most people being poor and having crap armour any armour you pump into the economy should be distributed. Say you drop some equipment in the street people should have a desire to pick it up and put it on to replace their own armor if they are currently wearing it. If you sell the armour it should stay at that shop for a few days at least but eventually it should be given to a random NPC within a 5000 pace radius of that shop, and then they should use it. It would be cool to see guards wearing ebony armor, but still using their shield to identify them as a guard. Edit:That slavery thing, you could have some npc trafficing happening down by the riften border of the map. Setup some hidden camps or create some caves that run far through the mountain side. I don't know much about the slavery lore, but I remember seeing some slaves in morrowind and it might have been a mod but in the black swamp area in oblivion as well Edited December 23, 2011 by Sagenth

jedoud
So has this project been scrapped. I am very interested in any economic mod, including socio-economic mods. I haven't done any modding since Morrowind, and the original Sims, but it seems with SkyPro and other tools, Skyrim may be very moddable. I am looking at EOS, Tradders of Skyrim, and others and they all seem to be going in that direction. I think for a complete overhaul such as economics is, many of the people who are working on these projects need to work collectively, so that more can be done with less. The trouble is all mods would have to work with the economics, so it is effectively a re-write of Skyrim base game. I have thought a lot about this, and so many things need to be done. The trading system, the monetary system (can not just have one coin), everything is affected by economics. There are so many areas that need re-tooling. Why would a smith go out from their place. A smith smiths and a tanner tans, and a miner mines, and clothier sews, and a farmer sows, that sort of thing. It is not about what they have in their inventory (although that is also a part, as scarcity of material, and availability play a part), but more about what they do, and how they must pay for raw material, to create their works. Certain smiths would have better materials, better skills, that sort of thing. Why would the dragon born smith armor, except for lore, as a poor smith, they go out from the smithy and live the life of an adventurer, even against their families wishes. Maybe a Dragon killed their family, maybe a lot of things, but once you live that life, chopping wood for a living is pretty much not what you do. A gold coin, is pretty hard to swallow, as gold is relatively scarce (by design), but copper and silver not so much. Taking what is available, iron ore, copper ore, silver ore, and others, coins could be minted by both the Empire, but also by each hold, giving many different values to each coin. Of course Solitude would use officially only the Empire money, but trade in gems, and to some degree, trade in other currency (as some merchants would be less than perfectly loyal), would happen. This is a big order, and I don't know if anything you had talked about, all good ideas with work to do, or anything I have thought about can be done, but I see some being done in some ways, but it seems the tools are not quite ready for prime time. I think once the SKSE, Scrpt Dragon, and SkyPro get stable with a couple of releases from Bethesda, things will happen to make this work. I would like to contribute, but I don't know where to begin. Thanks for putting this here, so I could at least begin thinking it might be more than just me that thinks the economy of Skyrim is unbelievable.
