DSniper
As the title says, yesterday I was able to play without issue (for the most part) via f4se through NMM and I tried launching it today and I never even get to see the first loading screen. I am using a decently heavily modded game (201 mod, 182 active plugins), with my own merged patches that merge conflicting leveled lists and consolidate keywords. I have no idea what exactly has changed between yesterday and today that is causing my game to suddenly not work whatsoever. I have not updated or changed any of my mod files from yesterday and i exited the game normally yesterday, going straight to the desktop which successfully made an exit save. Things I have tried:Restarted NMMDeactivated all my mods and then reactivating them by switching to and from a profile with no activated modsReinstalled FO4 after making a backup just in caseRedid the second bullet point after the reinstall without successVerified integrity of game cache multiple timesUsed LOOT to check my list, it found nothing wrong. So yeah, not sure what i should do at this point. I really want to avoid the "delete everything and reinstall everything" route as it is of course quite the annoying hassle to go through, especially if there might be other ways of bugfixing what is wrong. Any advice would be greatly appreciated at this point, as I am all outta answers.
snelss0
I've been seeing this issue all over the Bethesda modding community. It's ridiculous if you ask me, and it precisely started when SSE came out. I still haven't been able to figure it out, but I saw one guy close his Steam application from the taskbar, then defragged, then shut down his computer, left it alone for a little, then restarted and started steam. It then worked. Who knows if that will help you, I just hope this doesn't do that to me.

DSniper
Run the game directly through steam once, establish a good test saved game file. It doesn't seem to be relevant to the save file. I've launched FO4 directly through steam and got to the main menu without issue and was able to look at the saves without any issue. I've had corrupted saves before, and both times they were explicitly marked as being corrupt, causing massive issues to both normal and modded game launches until they were removed. I'll rename the saves folder and give it another go at launching, but I don't think anything will come of it. EDIT:Well, this s#*! just keeps getting weirder and weirder. So, i renamed the saves folder, essentially forcing the game to believe that i had never saved a game before, and I tried relaunching the game through NMM. And what do you know, it actually reaches the main menu. So, being the curious troubleshooter that I am, I closed the game down and started manually removing save files to try and figure out which one of them was corrupted. My Conclusion: All of them. Or none of them. Or maybe just some of them. After going through every single one of them trying to figure out the culprit or culprits, i ended up deleting the last one, and also the saves folder to go with it (still have my backup of course) and tried launching the game again, at which point it didn't load. Then i decided to try and run the game from steam, which i had done successfully after my first reinstall, and now it won't even launch through there. So, I am now back to square one and even more confused than before, somehow. How in the hell can the game get this messed up this quickly when ultimately nothing has been specifically changed between yesterday and today? :/ Edited November 14, 2016 by DSniper

Purr4me
you have junk left over someplace interfering with the OS and the Game. Absolutely nothing should counter steam launch so.. it's out side of steam effecting the game files, the only thing that does this is nmm controls, and or your ini files are getting written too. search and delete all files found in all temp folders on the OS. Nmm? well...that's kinda up to you seeing how it get really screwed up bad if you uninstall it. But steam works. Users apps local temp. C:\windows temp. Of these there are files. clean those folders. Keep in mind, the last program ran to control the game files are in command of them.
damanding
I've had reason to suspect that the steam app itself is causing issues lately. Some of the time when first starting the game, I see the Red Rocket image, and get the "press any key to start" message, the little Steam message box in the lower right corner, and then it just either locks up right there or crashes to desktop. Restarting the steam app itself or just restarting the computer solves this temporarily for me. I'm using Mod Organizer to launch the game, not NMM, so I do think it's something with OS or steam.
