How do I add items to existing game containers in Skyedit?

I have tried to mod the Warden's Chest in Helgen Keep to add a longbow, and 15 iron arrows. I save the mod, but when I load my game with it active, the game just crashes at load screen after the Bethesda splash.

 

So, does anyone have any tips on how to do this ?

 

Also, looking to find a away to add a bow and arrows to the storm cloak body in that path. Hate you had to go through so many fights without having a bow from the start, want to correct this.

I'm not sure how to do it myself, but if you want to learn you can use this mod as a resource so you can see how other modders have accomplished what you're trying to do. It both adds items to a container, and adds a container to the game itself. The only ingredient you're missing is the exact reference for the container you'd like to add items to, which with enough time and effort, you can find it in Skyrim.esm and copy and paste it to your plugin for altering with SkyEdit.

Well, I made my mod in skyedit, thrn went to tesnip, and copied the master chest, moved it to my mod so I had a duplicate, mine and the original. Then took the cnto hex of the longbow, and arrows, and placed them in the chest from the master, and dragged the data sub to the bottom, and adjusted the Full record cause it wasn't showing the name right in game, so I had ot manually put it's name on the chest.

 

So, my mod is working, I just made a slight error in my number of arrows. I put 12 in hte box, gotta go back, and up that amount. the first 2 stormcloaks took me 10 arrows before they were dead.... or I could add 12 more to Gunjar(need to anyway for the stormcloak side) if I can find him in the records.
