FalloutNV.exe failed <740>????????

Hey everybody this is masukasu. So, I'm having a major issue right now with my FalloutNV.exe. It's wierd because it worked PERFECT just yesterday but today when I tried to load the game via FoMM 'LaunchNVSE' option, I kept getting this error:

Launching c:\program files <x86>\steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas\FalloutNV.exe failed <740>

I REALLY would hope that someone knows exactly what's wrong. My system is perfectly compatible. I run it as an administrator just as a precaution. I'm getting really irritated because I can't find ANYTHING on any of the forums or google about why this happens and/or a fix. So, if anyone can help me, it'd be much appreciated.

P.S. I do use mods but I've never had this issue before. I also have the nvse_2beta12 but I even tried using the nvse_loader.exe as well, but that didn't even work. I can run the game just fine through the steam client, so could it be my FoMM or NVSE?

Steam is currently downloading huge files connected to Fallout New Vegas right now. I don't know why and I can'f find information about it.

It downloaded a 2 gig chunk and is now downloading another 2gig chunk as I type this (dec 31, 8:30 am). I am looking all over for what's going on and there is no info about an update but several people are having trouble getting their game to work.

So check steam to see if it is currently downloading New Vegas related files.

If it is NOT downloading stuff try your game again. If your game still does not work - then:

goto steam library.

Right click on game, select properties.

Go to local files tab

Select verify integrity of game cache.

Steam will take a minute or so to check the game for missing files and will re download whatever is missing.
