Levelling too fast... say wha?

Can somebody explain the concept of levelling too fast, which I've seen noted around here a few times?

How could you "level up too fast?" And how could that put you at a disadvantage in the game? I guess I can see a scenario where it might get too easy, but that didn't seem to be what I was being warned against...

Thanks, gang.

As you level up the monsters get harder both in terms of type and frequency of encounter. I believe the highest level new monsters arrive at level 23 but that may be wrong. Certain monsters also continue to level up with you right through the game. You level up when your major skills increment by 10. The danger is that your major skills may not be the combat friendly ones. So if you race up 15 levels based on increases mainly to speechcraft, mercantile, security, athletics and alchemy for instance, you may well find the monsters too hard to handle.

So that is what is meant by levelling too fast.

Goblins especially will become harder than Deadric Lords when you get too high a level which is totally out of context I think but true.

the game assumes Strength, Endurance, and either Intelligence or Willpower as the skills you'll level up every level, because that's what all NPCs level up. they always get more HP, more Strength, and More magic.

It detracts from the enjoyment of the game when you're thinking about your "+5 on level up" because you know if you don't get at least +3 or higher, you're just going to get your ass handed to you by about level 15.

but not everyone wants to roleplay that type of character, so there are leveling mods created to slow down the process or even change it fully.

Whe I started my current character I needed to make some money- so I concentrated on alchemy- and made like a couple of thousand potions- and with alchemy as one of my major skills- I zoomed through the levelling. Felt really good at getting to level 10 in no time.

Then one day I ventured into an Ayelid ruin- and the got the s**t beaten out of me. So much so that I even got afraid of rats. Did not know what to do. Then suddenly it dawned on me to use some of the potions I had made- and that got me through the next few weeks (3 or 4 potions just as the battle music started)- till my destruction skill caught up.
