inawe
Does anyone know what the "Enable Editor Alpha Ref" option in a material file does? I want to edit the material file for vines in order to hide them, and that option is checked in the file. It's the first I've run into with that enabled. Thanks in advance for any help. Deleted15964729User
Which file is this? I use ousnius Material Editor, never gotten the offical html-based one to work. If I check Vine.BGSM I can see:http://i.imgur.com/0XYaHvq.png It's used to tell the material at what white value alpha should be interpreted as transparency and probably what you want. But the exact wording you have I've never seen, but if you use the offical material editor this would explain it.
inawe
I've never been able to get the official Material Editor to work either, so I am also using ousnius' utility. Vine.BGSM is the file I am looking at. On the Material tab, "Enable Editor Alpha Ref" is near the top, just below where you set the texture paths. Deleted15964729User
Since no one have answered I guess you wont mind if I speculate, while having no idea. It could be a value that it tells the game that the alpha in the material can be overrided by the TXST alpha settings in the CK. Or perhaps it points to settings in the nif that are otherwise not used. Would be interesting to see an explanation to each term, but I suppose more experienced modders know most terms from the meshes prior to FO4.
