Dragonborn DLC is just severely messed up

I'm not really dealing with crashes just a lot of really annoying glitches.

 

I waited until level 58 to go to Solstheim with my current character. So far I've come across 5 very different and very separate problems with quests. More details in the spoiler tag.

 

 

 

1. Pain in the Necklace - Fethis won't take the things. I've found EIGHT so far, but he never will give me the first dialogue just the generic dialogue for the 2+ ones, and still won't take them or give me gold.
2. It's All In The Taste - Geldis gave me the opportunity to distribute his Sadri's Sujamma, yet failed to even give me any. I had the dialogue option of hey I'm out, give me more, so he actually gave me 2 (of the 10 needed). I went to the first two people I saw, both gladly said they would accept the Sujamma, but neither took any. So I still have those 2 bottles.
3. March of the Dead - I found Capt Veleth standing out at the Old Attius Farm. Alone. No ash spawn, no dead guard. Nothing. Just him. And he'll say "hey I could use your help" if I stand close to him for long but when I talk to him the only dialogue option I get is asking if he knows Miraak.
4. The Cheif of Thirsk Mead Hall - Sided with the Rieklings. Both the boar and scathrow quests went fine, but when it came time to kill the Nords, I could not. They were immortal. I looked on Wiki and they're not supposed to be, checked my files in TES5Edit and nothing touches those people except base Dragonborn.esm. I even tried using the console to make them non-essential but it REFUSED to. Had to use the no one is essential ini edit to be able to finish it.
5. Deathbrand - The chests would not spawn. As I said I was level 58 when I first got to Solstheim so it wasn't the level thing. I came across the pirates with the map on accident, and that's what started the quest but yeah no chests. I hunted everywhere, even to the point of googling for answers on that. I ended up just console adding the armor/key and then advancing the quest to the barrow point so that's done with but it still bugs me.

 

 

 

I've tried loading an earlier save (going all the way back to right before I went to Solstheim), I've tried save and script cleaners. I've tried verifying the cache on Steam. Checked all these quests in TES5Edit and nothing is conflicting. Literally the only thing that touched either was the mod that renames quests renamed them to include the location/questline and Book Covers Skyrim changed the cover of the Deathbrand book. So I'm at a complete loss.

Oye, this is not an easy one. Really, anything you do to your mods can at this point screw up your game worse. As I'm sure you know, anytime you move or delete a mod from a saved game, it can cause issues and ctds. I don't know if you've done that in the past of this save, but that could very well be your problem. Nothing seems particularly wrong with the mods you have installed. I would organize them a different way, but that's just me and likely wouldn't matter in this instance.

 

Also I wouldn't personally install as many script heavy mods that potentially could interfere with each other. You have a lot of mods that influence anything from crafting, to carrying, to manipulating items. Normally this wouldn't matter, but since it is a source of one of your problems with the necklaces, perhaps some mod is conflicting?

 

The only thing I could suggest doing, and probably only if you are using MO, is perhaps delete your skyrim, update, and all dlc .esms, revalidate your cache, and then reclean them. Believe it or not, this solved all my crashing/screwy errors once and my game has been flawless since. Hopefully someone else has an idea.

Well it was worth a shot, but that didn't fix it. I can confirm though that its not any of my mods inherently.. Started a new character, went straight to Windhelm and took the boat to Raven Rock. All the quests worked perfectly fine no problems. So it's apparently either something from running them for so long (I've not changed anything other than adding a couple new things at random but it was small things like outfits) or something I did along the way broke them.

Maybe just make sure all your versions of your mods are up to date.

Yep all up to date, I check them every other week or so.

 

But.. I think this character is just screwed up. I went wayyyy back and loaded my first save after character creation, when the only mods I had were the very basic mods (racemenu, skyui, things that say "must use at new game"), level 1 middle of nowhere. Went to Windhelm, boat to RR, went to the inn. Oh yes help me with the Sujamma! And he STILL didn't give any to me. So I feel this character is just.. messed up for some reason.

My only guess would be that perhaps it's something to do with your NPC Overhauls - merged. Each of your issues seem to deal with NPCs. It could be that those are fine in normal Skyrim but not in the DLC? I don't know...I'm grasping at straws. Might be worth checking out to see what you have merged there and if something doesn't play nice with DB.

NPC Overhauls - Merged is a merged file of a few npc facelift mods.

 

I just kinda feel at this point it really is just my character because yeah, new character with all the same mods (same load order, same everything) it worked perfectly fine (well cept Deathbrand cuz level 1) but my current one just refuses to work, even at level 1 freshly created just like my new character Prisoneere :confused:

 

In fact I found even more problems. I finally completed March of Death by just giving up and going to Fort Frostmoth and killing the dude, the quest then showed up in my journal and I was able to finish it. Veloth said oh here's your reward and gave me nothing. Then proceeded to do the "find the wine" mission for him and once again oh here's your reward and I got nothing. the Dragonborn folks just don't like my poor Breton.
