Dead Men's Respite Invisible Barrier

Before I entered the room where King Olaf is found in Tending the Flames, I left my companion in the room with the combination door. After the king and all the draugr were dead I tried to return to my companion and found I was blocked by an invisible barrier where the entrance tunnel opens into the large room where the battle took place. I was able to pass through only by using TCL in the console, but my companion still was trapped behind the barrier. Is there a way to disable the barrier to retrieve my companion and the loot I left with her? Is that barrier a bug or a "feature"?

That dungeon is part of the entrance to the Bard's College quest line. It requires finding King Olaf's missing verse. The verse is with the ghost bard who wrote it at the bottom of the spiral stairwell and behind a stone door , when you pick up the book (and put it in your inventory) the ghost bard goes to the magical barrier and gets it to drop..no other way. BUT if you complete it out of order you will never get "Investigating the Bard's College" off your quest log. I know because it happened to me, drop back to a prior save and go to Solitude ad pick up the quest from the dean of the college. Edited by Aurielius

The location of the invisible barrier was not the magically sealed door but rather the normally open passageway with no actual door where one enters the room where King Olaf and his minions are found. Since I posted my question I reloaded a save made just before entering that room and again observed/fought the battle. When the king and draugrs were dead and the bard had played his lute the invisible barrier was not present. The first time I played that section I had stayed in the passageway just outside the chamber in sneak mode and sniped the king and draugrs with my bow, eventually luring the king into the room with the combination lock door and killing him there. That apparently didn't allow the quest to advance normally. Even so, I still don't see any good reason for the passageway to be blocked by the invisible barrier.
