Add-on textures not working ingame

If I download a gun mod, lets say the popular m2216 mod, I physically have the gun in my hand but its invisible. I've tried changing my Fallout4Prefs.ini and Fallout4.ini to

sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, TEXTURES\, MUSIC\, SOUND\, INTERFACE\, MESHES\, PROGRAMS\, MATERIALS\, LODSETTINGS\, VIS\, MISC\, SCRIPTS\, SHADERSFX\

But this doesnt change anything.

I download mods through NMM, and never had any problems with other mods.

Also, if I go into Fallout 4\Data\textures\weapons\m16 I can see the textures inside.

Please help.

My .ini folders:

Fallout4prefs:

[Launcher]
uLastAspectRatio=1
bEnableFileSelection=1

at the bottom

Fallout4custom.ini

[Display]

iLocation X=0
iLocation Y=0
[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=
Fallout4.ini
[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, TEXTURES\, MUSIC\, SOUND\, INTERFACE\, MESHES\, PROGRAMS\, MATERIALS\, LODSETTINGS\, VIS\, MISC\, SCRIPTS\, SHADERSFX\

In your instance, it seems that the part of that mod (the .nif file) that references the texture location is either incorrect, or missing.

This might be a problem with that individual mod, or it could be an issue with the newest version of NMM (I've read lots of threads with people having similar issues with the latest version of NMM not installing mods correctly)

You could try manually installing the gun mod you mention, making sure that everything is in the correct place. If it works, then that rules out the mod itself being the issue, and likely indicates that NMM is the culprit.

I put all the downloaded files into my data folder but this did not show the mod in game?

I'll hazard a guess that you've added the files correctly - textures files go into the data\textures folder, meshes in data\meshes etc. If there is an .esp, that just goes in the data folder, where the .esp of other mods you have installed are located.

Alternatively (making sure you've uninstalled the mod if it's still installed via NMM) you could try clicking the + symbol in the top left of NMM, and manually add the .zip, then try activating it in NMM to see if that works.

If it still doesn't work after this, then I don't know what is causing the issue. I'm guessing that NMM is installed on the same drive as Fallout4. Perhaps you should check on the mods page (if you haven't already) to see if this issue crops up in the bugs or comments section? Sorry I can't be of more help.
