Witchblade7777
Minimize spoilers.... for example don't tell me locations of treasure Hi, I am getting a little frustrated. I was doing good and I got to level 15. But now the past 5+ areas have been too strong for me. It is possible I was unlucky and picked too hard areas. But I am wondering if my character build is just crap. Khajit Skill I use: destruction 25ish, one handed 25ish, archery 50ish, sneak 50ish, restoration 25ish Equipment: Imperial leather armor - smith upgrade, elven gauntlet, dagger with critical hits from moss cavern quest, imperial bow of frost. Stats: pretty even balance of all 3 Edited December 26, 2011 by Witchblade7777
Hidole555
What difficulty are you playing on? Go to options, gameplay, and check the difficulty. If it's at Adept try lowering it a bit and see if that makes a difference. Playing a thief-like character is hard, especially when you don't get sneak attack crits. Do you use a shield with one hand or do you duel wield? Archery is your best friend when fighting dragons so you're good there. If you use daggers you can pretty much stop putting perks in Sneak when you get the Assassin's Blade perk. Destruction is good for facing a tough melee enemy. Just backpedal while setting them ablaze. Restoration is also always good for healing in a pinch. So, to finalize, better armor is what you need at your level and I suggest lowering the difficulty if you haven't yet.
Lolmasteromg
This sometimes happens when you try to be a jack of all trades. Skill I use: destruction 25ish, one handed 25ish, archery 50ish, sneak 50ish, restoration 25ish What I'm noticing is that you are trying to focus on primary sneak. At level 15 I know that you have way more skills than just those. It's probably those skills that brought you down. Advice: Turn down the difficulty start a new characteror start fixing your character to be more combat proficient. Also, do not pick every single perk in an available tree, for example., One handed lets you have special abilities for Axes, swords, and maces. Don't try and put a perk in every single one , same with Destruction and fire, ice, lightning.
TimF
The game's problem is leveling of environment. To make things easier for you, you should specialize in certain fields, not spread out. For example, destruction and sneak or one-handed do not synergize, and while enemies become stronger, you'll still only be able to cast crappy spells or use mediocre sneak and one-handed. The following skills empower each other well in assassin build: Sneak, One-handed, Light armor (not that important, though), Illusion magic; Smithing and enchantment are very important crafting skill. Optional: Archery as a primary combat skill instead of one-handed, or together with it; alchemy - the other useful crafting skill, that will ensure you having healing and all the other useful potions in abundance. Also, becoming a vampire provides significant boon for assassins/arcane tricksters. You might want to avoid lockpicking. The gain in locked chests and rooms is laughable, while your enemies gonna get + 8-9 levels. Same with other non-combat skills. gigantibyte
From UESP: "More challenging dungeons are generally located at higher elevations, meaning that early in the game players may want to avoid mountainous regions. However, more difficult dungeons contain better rewards. In addition, some high-quality items can be randomly found even early in the game. The level of a given dungeon is fixed the first time you enter it. Therefore, places that you enter early in the game will always contain relatively weak enemies, even if you return to the same dungeon at the end of the game." So one strategy would be to enter and quickly exit (without engaging in combat) every dungeon you can reach while at a low character level. CalibanX
This may not be the direction you want to take your character in, but given that you've already invested in Destruction, Sneak and Archery I would recommend you try to go up the Illusion tree until you get the "Silent Casting" perk. Combine that with the "Rune Master" perk in the Destruction tree. So, you sneak up on enemies cast Rune on the ground next to the enemy (silently) and then nail them with the Archery for a sneak shot. If the sneak shot doesn't kill them, they set off the fire Rune and then from your safe hiding place, you can lay down more runes or bow shots as necessary. The Calm spell is also very useful for sneaking characters when the sneaking fails.
runicNomad
if you are going the path of sneaky archer then you will have a hard time initially but later on you can roam through areas in stealth and one shot many enemies.casters and ranged start out difficult as in most games and grow in powerstraight on melee is balanced for fast pace but gets more difficult once you start running into the mega casters later on.
