Pariah72
I posted earlier trying to see if its possible to make Dremora one of the default races. However this post is seperate from that idea (though it would help). This was inspired by the events that i caused ingame today I playing as a dremora (made my character that with setrace cmd and showracemenu and adding me to the dremora faction ) When i was in windhelm i was messing aorund in daedric armor being a complete Daedric badass when all of the sudden somehow i got a bounty. When the guards came for judgement I decided to have some fun. After they took me to jail, I used a spell to spawn a dremora outside my cell then unlock the cell door while the dremora fought the guard. Once I escaped, about 10 more guards showed up for some fun. I used placeatme to spawn about 7 Dremora and we fought our way out of the cell. Once out, we obviously stumbled into Ulfrics Throneroom. Before guards could subdue me I spawned more Dremora. The ensuing battle was nothing short of Epic. Then once all killable npcs were dead and all unkillabled npcs were wounded and everytime they got up they would be thrown down instantly, I entered the city for the claiming of it. I spawned 20 Dremora and they had a massive battle with all the soldiers of the city. After the streets were littered with bodies and my Dremora Army was now hunting the last living humans in the city, I wandered to see the aftermath. With npcs gone (many unkillable npc's I changed their essential status with the console to allow thier death) the Dremora began to act oddly. They acted very much the same as Stormcloak soldiers act once they have taken Whiterun. They took on the role of guardsmen almost. Once one would stumble across a body they would say usual guard statements such as "Who did this" or "What a waste!". Now since the dark, guttural Dremora voice was not prepared for these statements, the AI instead used a regular guard voice for it. So the Dremora had actually taken hold of the main portion of the city and were rulling as Guards. I plan on getting crafty and messing around with the city a bit just to make it more RP-like so it seems as if Daedra have literally taken hold of the city. However the fact that the AI were smart enough to know they had taken over was beyond me. I figured one of two things, It was some sort of hidden coding in the game or that it was sorta like the concept from I-robot (Ghosts in the coding). Well whatever It was it really got my wheels turning. I think a mod where you can either lead or fight against a Daedric takeover in a city would be awesome. Windhelm is a perfect setting, and if its done right it could be AWESOME. It could have one of two results: You crush the attack and everything goes to normal or it becomes some form of Daedric city. I know a lot of people will say this is probably better placed in the mod suggestions area but I put it here because I wanted two other things out of this post. What could have caused the Dremora to act the way they did and also, would a mod of this scale even be possible? Well I have a Daedric city to go rule so, Ill check on any responses later. bowlofPetunias
From someone who pretends to know a little bit about programming:I'm pretty sure those 'ghosts' in the code are absolute bulls*** made up for the sake of story. I mean, they do exist. They're called 'bugs' or logic errors, but they rarely do anything positive. More often, it just means your code gives you a strange, unexpected output. And even it is positive, a bug would never go as far as NPCs learning to adapt to new roles. If that wasn't coded in by Bethesda, I don't know how it could have gotten in there. Try following them, are they really acting like guards and assuming the paths of the old guards, or just exclaiming surprise at the bodies? Did one assume the role of captain? Are some citizens? Do some follow vendor paths? I'm curious.
leot486
Maybe the scripting some how crossed with storm cloak or legion scripts? For example during the take over of whiterun if you were a stormcloak stormcloaks are of course hostile towards that area and everything in it. Once everything they found to be an enemy is dead, well they then owned the city. Maybe somehow in the programing of the scripts it can affect more then just what it was intended to do. Idk if this makes sense, makes sense in my head though ^_^
bowlofPetunias
I know what you're trying to say, but daedra never had or will have anything to do with the civil war in the vanilla code. I'm going to hazard a guess that Beth has some function in there that is applied to certain factions when taking over a city. The only factions it would ever apply to would be Imperials and Stormcloaks. That function being applied to the daedra doesn't make any sense, as they never band together to make any kind of civilization (to my knowledge). The only reason they have a faction is so that they don't attack each other.

Also i do know Ghosts In The Code is not a real term and is just movie stuff, but due to my inexperience i referenced that as an idea. They dont have too many attributes akin to guards but they do act as normal guards. One even went by and did the guard thing where they say they think your the one of the only sane people there and give you an ale. They sometimes patrol but recently a large number of them disappeared when a surviver of the city that i had not known was still alive came and they chased him out of the city. I may spawn more daedra in the city just to view how they act. I plan on possibly releasing this save game to the public so others can have fun with it.
