PrometheusBound
After a few failed attempts at this myself, I thought I'd put a request up and see if someone could help. While I'm decent at texturing, I'm pretty terrible at modelling. I've been working through some basic tutorials, but I'm not yet advanced enough to do this, so assistance would be appreciated. Basically, I'd like an improved book mesh. Something that has a moderately higher poly-count, but more importantly, is UV mapped very, very well. Working with Bethesda's meshes is proving to be a nightmare. I created textures based off of the bookskyrim.nif mesh, but didn't realize how awful the UV mapping was until I'd already finished the texture. It distorts the image at the edges/corners, the binding looks abysmal, and the back is a mess with overlapping textures/normal maps. What would be nice is a book, weighted/Havok'd the same as the ones in game, but with a high polygon count (evenly distributed to reduce the weird warping that occurred) and with the ability to separately texture the front and back of the book. The binding could go with either side (or both). If this could be done, I'd be extremely grateful, and I hope it's not too difficult of a request to make. This would also make a great modder's resource to release, as I'm sure people making HD texture mods would appreciate having a better mesh to work from. Alternatively, if someone could fix the worst of the awful UV mapping issues on a book mesh Bethesda included, I'd settle for that. I just want a good mesh to work from. Thanks to anyone who can help.
