Combat Animation mod Potential?

We all know how successful the animation mods were in oblivion, and imo, I can't see myself EVER going back to vanilla animation, most especially in regards to combat. I wont go into details nor name names/mods, but it is safe to say it improved on the overall gameplay immeasurably.

Do you think we can expect to see the same in Skyrim? Do you feel Skyrim has more or less potential in terms of modded/tweaked animation in terms of combat. Considering the Skyrim vanilla combat itself is far more impressive than that of its predecessor, Oblivion, are you expecting to see extensive overhauls, or minor adjustments?

As of now, I can see quite a few flaws in combat which frustrate me :

(Keep in mind I do not know 100% what is, and what isn't within the ability of the game's engine to mod/perform)

Dual Wielding : Dual wielding attack speed, lack of unique basic attack animation changes, inability to attack until one animation is finished (making sword/axe/hammer combat seem slow and restricted).

1 Handed + Shield : I would love to see the shield having more than one animation, and when equipped with a 1h weapon, it would be nice to see it joined into a combo attack. (Sort of like a punch attack with the edge of the shield)

2 Handed : Where do I start....Painfully slow, at least it has a couple animations for attack though. Even if it is a 2 handed weapon, it should never be swung so slowly, especially if you invest points onto the skill tree.

Bows : The bow is nice once you upgrade the tree, but it still seems lacking in the end. There is no fluid ease of movement, one static animation, and overall needs improvement.

Other combat animations and features I also noticed lacking are the absence of directional attacks. Its still the same ; I can only attack what is directly in front of me. I was hoping to see AOE attacks for 2H weapons, backwards stabs for 1H weapons, thrusts with edged/bladed weapons, and some sort of multi-shot/multi-tageting system for bows so you can hit more than 1 target at a time.

Anyways, I am going to stop before I find myself in a full scale rant ;) (Oh and this isn't a request of any kind for animation mods or anything of the sort, this is strictly intended to be a discussion of possibilities, current features, and the like, I apologize beforehand if that is what this is interpreted as)

Let me know your thoughts and feelings!

I've been wanting two-handed weapons to have their own charge attacks as an alternative to power, much like Monster Hunter. Hold the attack button (or middle wheel), charge a weapon and when the blade glows bright (and we have an audio cue) we unleash the attack. The two-handed sword would work on a standard timer, after three or five seconds of holding the charge you'd need to release. Two-handed Maces can be charged while moving but you suffer a movement penalty. Finally, two-handed axes would have the least charge time (around two seconds) and the quickest recovery (to avoid being in one place for too long) but as a result has lower damage potential with it's charges. All of these, of course, are interchangeable.

To be honest, I think the two-hander speed is actualy pretty good.

I have a feeling that animations will be more flexible this time around, if we can make our own animation sets and apply them to certain weapons it will be awesome.

Means you could have rapiers with proper fencing attacks, or even make custom animations for spears and halberds ect.
