aceofspadess
Hey, I've been thinking about getting back into skyrim, but im not sure if i should play the old version of skyrim with dlc or the special edition which i got for free. My biggest concern with the special edition is that most mods would not work with it. At least the absent of SKSE is a big problem for me, so does anyone know when its going to be released for the special edition? Also, is there a way to use the old skyrim mods with the special edition or do i have to wait until they are in the special edition nexus?
repusDude
If your Skyrim game is stable, play Skyrim. If your Skyrim game is unstable and you have powerful gpu, try special edition Skyrim.
forskyrimmods
If I was you I would wait a few months till SKSE comes out for the special edition and till the graphics surpass Skyrim.
phantompally76
I would recommend LE Skyrim on PC, and SE on consoles. Just don't let people try to convince you that LE is totally unplayable on PC without mods, or that SE is a vastly superior product. LE has sold over 20 million copies, and won over 200 Game-of-the-Year awards in 2011 before mods even existed. There is also the very real possibility that SE won't even run properly on your computer. There are even those who suggest that SE only exists to divide and weaken the modding community as retribution for Bethesda's damaged reputation as a result of the backlash against paid mods. But that's crazy....
TeofaTsavo
I've been watching MXR modding SE and TBH it looks terrible. SE is for Consoles. It looks a wee bit better, and you can mod it. Something we already had on PC, and developed to a much higher state. There is a reason it was Free to PC players. I highly doubt the PC players raving about the "potential" of SE would have felt the same had they been forced to pay full retail, and Bethesda knew that. ObsydianShade
If you have a rig capable of playing SE, you can mod LE to a state comparable, or beyond that of SE.
ClefJ
But can LE Skyrim be made to handle things like massive battles, or was that always just a CPU issue? I heard SE was much more optimized for such things.

I heard SE was much more optimized for such things. i've migrated to SE since 3 days, with same mods* than my normal game, but more crappy because i convert many of them myself and i'm not especially good at that. my game have not crashed in three days, while it coulde be happen 4,5 time a night with normal edition. maybe i'm juste lucky... but i think it's more robust. edit : *same mods but skui (i use the 2.2 version) and skse... maybe the difference is here. mohawkman39
I do have a question about the special edition. First do my DLC work with this version. Also I take it all my many mods will not work with the special edition as I noticed STEAM does offer a free download of the special edition or what I take is a free download.
