Black heads when disabling mod that changes NPCs appearance, how to fix?

I'm working on a mod that changes all female NPC's hair to ApachiiSkyHairs and I noticed when I disable the mod, all the affected npcs have black heads. I just tried removing the FaceGeom folder, but the black heads are still there. I need to know how to uninstall the mod without breaking the game for when/if I upload it. Help?

Just a guess on my part, but perhaps it could help.

a) Try to validate your Steam files - if files are corrupted, Steam does reinstall them. Perhaps this can solve the problem.

b) Have you deactivated your virtual folder? Steam does all sorts of stupid things like saving changed files there, so the game doesn't recognize your changes anymore.

I hope this helps you. :-)

Sorry to hear that - that would have been the easiest way.

Before we manipulate your virtual folder, let us try two other things.

Archive Invalidation

Perhaps it's as simple as that: have you invalidated your archives in your mod manager after deinstalling your mods? Are you using a mod manager, like FOMM or NMM? If not, do it. Simply click on <Archive Invalidation> and see if it solves the problem.

Updating FNIS Behaviour

Apachii doesn't state that it needs FNIS, and I cannot say if this is relevant at all as I've never used Apachii, but why not give it a try? FNIS is used for all sorts of additional animation, perhaps it also covers hair. I don't know, but it could be worth a try. Simply udpate FNIS behaviour and see if it helps.

Virtual Folder

Virtual Folder is a safeguard in Windows. It depends on which Windows version you're using. I'm using Windows 8, and I ran into problems with the virtual folder with Skyrim. Its acutal purpose is to prevent you from screwing up your computer, but sometimes it also prevents you from doing necessary changes as it supercedes the files in your game folders (sorry if this isn't 100% correct, but I'm no professional). Thus, you have to manually enable full control over the files. Here is a link that describes the necessary steps: https://www.interworks.com/de/blog/dsmith/2011/09/21/disabling-windows-7-virtual-store

By following those steps, I could solve my issue and start Skyrim again. I hope that this helps you as it sounds very much like the problem I had with Skyrim. Some files were probably altered by the mods you installed, and these altered files can still be found in the virtual folder. The game uses those files instead of those reinstalled by you. Disable the virtual folder for Skyrim and the game loads your new files and should run again properly. Perhaps you have to reinstall or invalidate your files again after you've disabled your virtual folder.

Good luck!
