mikeylikey
Hi everybody, I started a new topic because I can't find a solution to this anywhere. I've only been playing about 20 hours or so and just got a quest located in Windhelm which I haven't been to yet. When I get close enough to the city that I can see the walls and the bridge, the game crashes with no errors. I have some mods installed: Skyrim HDthe 4GB patch (which I am aware is unnecessary...maybe my problem??)Enhanced nightFXAA Post Process InjectorGlowing ore veinsHigh Res Smoke and EmbersHigh Res WaterNo More Blocky FacesQD InventoryRealistic Sun Glare I have tried verifying the game cache through Steam, running in windowed mode and checking RAM usage (was about 1.7 GB and running 1280 X 768 but still crashed), and using both the 4GB patch exe and the steam exe. Nothing so far has worked. I'm not sure what's going on. Any ideas?
mikeylikey
So after not having any luck with anything else, I decided to try some console commands. This seems to have alleviated some of my frustration in the game crashing, however it still crashes randomly when travelling to new locations. What I did was when I got close to Windhelm I got off my horse and told my companion to wait. I then hit the tilde (`) key and typed in 3 letters: tcl. This allowed me to travel to windhelm from the sky and kept the game from loading any content that would cause it to crash again. Once I got inside the area of Windhelm, it "discovered" the location. Then I went to the door back out to Skyrim and it loaded just fine. From there I just walked to where I left my horse and companion and since then I've been able to enter and exit Windhelm without issue. Now, I'm getting game crashes at other strange locations. There doesn't appear to be anything in particular causing the crashes except new locations. Some new locations start getting really choppy in the framerate and then the game crashes. It's kind of annoying :/

(I was using the default one initially and it would crash, I removed that and installed the light version and it was doing fine until I tried to fast travel.) :O I have an imac running bootcamp so it's not the idea machine but I think I'll live! You might want to turn your texture level to medium maybe first. Anyway, I hope this helps! Edited December 31, 2011 by milkpops

I actually did try uninstalling Skyrim HD after I posted this topic and it didn't change anything for me. I actually have a pretty powerful computer --plenty powerful to be able to use the HD mod. In fact, my system specs are almost identical to the creator's (at least at the time of the creation of the mod), so I don't think that mod is the problem. wallofchaos
I cannot travel to Windhelm at all either. it freezes and quits responding. Very very frustrated. I purchased the game one day before it went on sale. I lost 20$ on that deal. Tried to recover my cash by canceling order and all that. didnt work. Anyway. Fully legit game. up to date and no mods. I am only here due to the fact that I cannot find any information anywhere on this. I tried disabling SLI changed the graphics settings. changed it so it doesnt autosave at all. im lost and quite mad.
