cojaca2
I have a question about texture modding. About one thousand of these get asked every day, but I haven't seen something that pertains to this. I've extracted the textures, I can edit them just fine, I know how to do all that, but how do I change the skin tones of the human or elven races? When I look in the files, there is a .msn file in each race's folder, and then a generic body texture in a separate area. How then am I to change one without changing all of them? In Oblivion each race had their own textures right there, really easy to open up and modify, but that for some reason doesn't seem to be the case here. snackynak
msn files are the object-space normal maps, changing the colors of those is probably something you don't want to do. Maybe try copying the diffuse(files without the _msn or _s suffix) textures from the male and female folders, and pasting them into the darkelffemale or darkelfmale(or which ever elf race) folders. Then, edit the copied files and see if they override the ones from standard male and female folder. Keep in mind that if you change the hue or darkness of the base skin, then the race skin tone presets will increase that effect, or in the case of hue, combine to make an undesired color. Also keep in mind that I am not a modder, and everything I just said I pretty much made up so I have no idea if it actually works :psyduck:
cojaca2
I have doubts that that would work, but there's no reason not to try, at least unless someone can say for sure.
