ordodementia
Simple enough, normal clothing with light chain mail underneath, nothing unusual back in the day, it was pretty much like wearing a BPV under your tunic so you didn't get slashed or stabbed (Double ring maille can stop not only knife stabs but non-bodkin arrow shot from a certain distance, most modern "maille" is butted maille, which is maille rings that are not riveted or closed off, but are like meat factory grade stainless steel garbage). http://www.swordsswords.com/images/products/display/Museum_Chain_Mail_Armor_Long_Shirt_Cap.2.jpg Simple maille certainly can fit under regular clothes, so why not, make clothes armored without making it over apparent for everyday use? Addendum: Chain maille is cushioned with a gambeson, or padded jacket of quilted cloth armor or hardened canvas. http://www.stahlgilde.net/wp-content/gallery/gambeson-long-arm-buckles-on-the-side-lap-100/gambeson-langarmelig-verschlusse-seitlich-lap-100.jpg Edited December 27, 2011 by ordodementia
Electricjudge
In another thread, someone wanted to make mages robes into light armor. I was thinking that this is an alternative....
