"Sew" meshes

Premitting i'm very new to editing meshes: how to attach 2 vertices (or edges) together in a nif file? I have googled lots of tutorials and tried various things in 3ds max but when exporting as nif it breaks again  The only thing that worked was to add an edit poly modifier and use the bridge option but that destroyed the mesh shape badly. Sad panda needs help :( Edited by STSG

Could somebody post a "step by step merging 2 vertices guide for idiots"? I was able to only generate more lose edges :wallbash: I should try splitting I guess. Maybe that will merge them. :psyduck: Edited by STSG

I tried that and inside max itself it works. But when I export it to nif it's broken again. None of the tutorials I was able to find dealed with what you might need to do to keep that change, they just say (in basic words) to select the verticles and press some button (weld, compress, etc), nothing more. Edited by STSG

Thanks but I have already checked those. Seems the issue is in the fact there is a small hard edge there which makes the nif split when exporting. I'll smooth it if i figure out how to do so without destroying the rest of the mesh.

EDIT: the default smoothing seems to work fine, guess issue solved :D Time for a new thread about vertices ><

Thanks for trying to help maniczombie :)
