How to update NVSE?

For a mod i have it says i need to update my NVSE,how do i do that? (Im not good at files,I had to watch a video to find out how to get NVSE) for fallout new vegas.

Me personally I'm having message come up whenever I load a save that tells me to update NVSE. And recently its been saying update to NVSE 13.

(this might be an easy to fix issue but any help i would be grateful for)

As NVSE is only up to version 5, you are either confused to as what version the message wants you to update to, or it's talking about something other than "New Vegas Script Extender" (NVSE). Most likely you have a really old version and it's saying to update to version "1.3" and you are just skipping over the period while it was displayed. The link Purr4me provided has the latest version. The beta is recommended. Just download and install over the current version.

 

If you provide a link to the mod in question, we can check to see what might be confusing you.

 

Item #4 in the "Checklist" of the wiki article "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide will show you how to enable the NVSE game error log. That will record the message you are getting for reference, and likely will provide additional information.

Are you sure the message isn't telling you to update some NVSE plugin and not NVSE itself? As mentioned NVSE does not have versions as high as 13, but some of the plugins do.
