Spoogle
I right clicked the light object in front of the spotlight in my vault. I clicked "Edit Base" and set it to flicker, but it still outputs a continuous beam of light. Is there more to this than I think?
greekrage
unless its made as a "flicker type asset it wont flicker. in the object window type "default*light " and you should see a lot of lightbulb icons. In there you will find many light sources that have a flicker . Most lights are made of several elements. : example is a street lamp (tall greenish/grey one ).This street light has 2 pieces of "hardware" like the post and the bulb/mirror then it has a light source and then it has a light beam and on top of all that also has fog . This applies to most lights like a oillamp that has the lamp, flicker flame ,light sourse and depending on the version may also have shadows and animations (swaying) . Dont confuse the workshop type lights that are all in one . Im sure you cant manipulate those unless you break up the group . Can you specify which light you are trying to edit ? greekrage
here are some sources that flicker as an example. If your spot light has a separate light source then swap it with one of these (to see the light sources you have to enable the markers ( M ) http://prntscr.com/daok2r I do it all the time in my builds and make my own light configs since i have a fetish for lighting etc. :P. Avoid the ones with shadows etc since too many of those cause serious fps drops. (look for the ones with "NS" at the end.
greekrage
Here is an example of some spots i setup in my latest build. Note that its basically 3 parts to form one single spotlight (hardware, light beam and light source ). http://prntscr.com/daoltd Also note a light source intensity etc can be made stronger-weaker by clicking the light source and holding your leftclick then holding Ctrl-Alt-S while dragging your mouse up or down . To clarify..YOU CAN edit a light source to flicker depending on the source BUT simply checking the flicker wont be enough. You also have to give it timing and amplitudes http://prntscr.com/daoo4i Warning :Make sure you rename it and give it a new form ID or it will effect all the spotlights in the game that use that element (or simply duplicate and rename )
Spoogle
Thanks for all the info! The light I'm trying to make flicker is a spotlight. I'm also trying to make a Klaxon pulse. I'll look over everything tomorrow when I've gotten some shuteye.
