360 Controller Bug After Updating

Since updating to the latest patch (I believe it's 1.3, but Steam sucks and doesn't tell you so I don't know), I can no longer use any of the buttons that I customized on my Xbox 360 controller (used for the PC version, obviously). I changed jump to A and use to X, and now I can't use either in the menus. Both buttons work fine outside of the menu, but it means I can't select any items, weapons, etc without using the keyboard. I can't even activate missions!

I have seen a couple scattered posts about this online, but no resolutions. Anyone else having this issue?

You can easily find your patch version by opening the system screen and looking in the lower corner.... for the record.

Try going into your controller mapping settings and pressing the "Reset to Default" option. I've had similar key binding problems and using the built-in Reset, the problems went away.

I have this exact problem. Apparently remapping the 'A' button causes it to no longer work in the quest log, stats, and options menus, nor does it work in conversations or when viewing inventories. If you remap the 'B' button, 'B' will still close out of menus, so this button does not have the issue. My previous problem was that my button mappings never stayed and I had to change them every time I opened the game. This appears to be fixed, but now there's new 360 controller issues.

What I've found through research is that if you reset the controller mapping to the (lame) defaults, it will works. Well personally I'm not down with using Y to jump and A to activate stuff considering practically no games use this kind of scheme. I really hope this is addressed in 1.4. I would post at Bethesda but I feel like they already don't really give a rip about the PC version of the game. :/
