Renaming mods files

When you install different mods some of then are in there respective folders yet almost all of them are labled the same ie. textures, data. When you put the data file in the mods folder it asks if you want to overwrite it which you don't because you have a different mod already in the folder with the same inital "data" name. Will changing the inital file names to say data1 data 2 so forth. Will the computer read those file regarless of name as long as they are in the right folder. or should i break down each mod folder into its bear files and place them all collectively in one data folder? Sorry if that sounds complicated but im not sure if all my mods are working and im looking for the reason. Thank

Overwriting folders should not have anything to say, it's when you overwrite files you may have problem.

So in other words you have to place all mods in the folder DATA regardless of how messy you may think it is.

I think splitting Data folders and make the game recognize the different folders would take some coding, and i think that could be difficult without an open source.

Correct me if im wrong programmers, i do not know this for certain. :)

You can use mod managers to help you though (i really recommend Wrye Bash, i use it all the time, but nexus mod manager is probably better for installing mods)
