1.3 Update has broken my game

:verymad:

Worst thing I ever did was allow Steam to automatically update my Skyrim.

After the latest update 1.3.10 the game started crashing all the time where it didn't before.

Trying to change any settings in skyrim.ini had no effect at all.

I thought I'd do the best thing and delete my ini files and start again with a new beginning.

Yep that worked.

Now lets do some tweaking again.

Oh hang on it automatically creates skyrim.ini for me OKAY!

Lets just edit that and see what happens - absolutely nothing!

Okay lets try it in game - absolutely nothing.

Okay lets try - setini"uGridsToLoad:General"9 - saveini and CRASH

skyrim.ini is broken!

The game looks revolting without texture, mesh mods and ENB + FXAA

It also looks even worse with uGrids on 5 and those damn annoying shifting shadows and other stuff which I can no longer fix!

Not sure if I want to wait for a fix!

About to give up on this game, remove it from steam folder forever and never touch a Bethesda Game again!

Gargorias, what is your hardware setup, just out of curiosity? What graphics card do you have? And windows version x86 or x64? My info is below.

Totally same issue here. My game was running beautifully. I was always amazed about how many people were having crashing issues. My game crashed once in a great while, but I could play for hours without a hitch. Actually more than once, when I would reload, there would be a fox in the area, so I thought foxes might be a problem somehow, though it just may have been coincidental. Now, my game can't go five minutes without crashing. I reset all the inis and made no changes. set my settings on low through the launcher just to see if that had anything to do with it. Still crashes.

There are two areas (so far, since I haven't been able to play much due to the crashing... it's just too frustrating) that always crash on me. Fort Greenwall and going into Riften right before the stables where the wooden towers are. It often seems that structures where characters are crash it quicker, but even in the woods, it eventually (within a couple moments) crashes.

To see if that was a problem from my save, I reverted WAY back to an earlier save where I knew I had no trouble in those areas, and it still crashed.

I tried uninstalling the whole game and restoring from an older backup I made on Steam, but, even if you check "do not update this game automatically" it sneakily updates it anyway. Tried uninstalling again and reinstalling, trying to block the update once it started with Norton "Block all traffic", but it must have downloaded it ahead of time, because it still updated. I removed all mods (only had a couple, no texture mods), still crashes. I can't even play the game. It's virtually unplayable now.

I'm at a total loss. I've tried elevated CMD IncreaseUserVa 3072, no difference. I've tried everything I could think of and nothing has made any difference.

For info if anyone's interested in giving suggestions:

(All have the latest updates, BIOS, Intel, Windows, Catalyst Drivers and HTO sound drivers.)

Windows 7 32-bit 4gbs of RAM but with 32-bit, the 4gb didn't help)

ATI Radeon HD 4870x2 (latest 12/13/11 drivers)

P5E Core Duo Quad Q9550

HTO Striker 7.1 Sound Card (though I also tried my onboard sound card at 24hz as has been suggested for previous versions, still crashed.)

Hi.

I'm having the same problem as well.

It allways crashes in the outdoor. Never inside a tavern or a dungeon etc..

and it started after the memory update. Anyone know of a patch that can fix these problems?

finally can't stand it anymore...after all this time just lurking around in this forum since oblivion..

my skyrim was absolutely fine when it was still 1.1. i can still play it at High setting on texture, no CTD almost no sudden crash no broken quest. the first time my Skyrim crash/CTD is when I was playing around using console command and summon 100 Dragon :P. well that was obviously my fault. but none before that.

right after updating 1.3.10, it all goes to hell, hiccups and stutter everywhere, sudden CTD. already tried using Syboost r4 after switching from tesval and Im also using ENB fix. it does reduce the CTD a bit somehow, but it still there. it sometimes freeze for like 30s and oftenly stutter with CTD for the final. weird thing is, it runs way smoother when i lower the Texture to Medium, while i was running very fine on HIGH when it was still 1.1 with all of my texture mod.

even though i dont own a high-end PC but i understand very well what it's capable of, most of my games i play it on HIGH TEXTURE setting with some of the setting lowered, BF3, Batman AC, Witcher 2.

well even though it was painfull and annoying like this, I still force myself playing Skyrim despite all of the troubles. I just hope this late January update will fix it.

E7500

2GB RAM

HD 4670

yes i know it's a low end PC compared to most of what you guys have. but i still play my games with HIGH TEXTURE setting and getting 30-60 FPS, but not skyrim after this 1.3.10 update.

Have you fiddled with the uGrids setting before you updated to 1.3.10? If so something was changed and it may not work on your old saves. Try starting a new game and see if you crash as much

nope..I believe it's still using the default one uGrids=5.

and both new and old char have the same problem, i dont think it's game save size either.
