Darylem Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 When I first started SSE, it detected my video card and set at low quality settings. Since I was able to play standard skyrim on ultra settings, this surprised me. I found that if I changed to a higher setting, it was basically unplayable. Then a couple of days ago, I got another message that it was detecting my video settings and it set them to ultra. Worked fine, no problems now on ultra settings. Any idea what happened? I have an nvidia gforce gtrx 980M video card,
L3s7ing Posted November 26, 2016 Posted November 26, 2016 (edited) The game probably detected your intel onboard chip first. However, why afterward your 980M got detected I don't know ^^ I would say maybe through a driver or game update.Since everything works now, there shouldn't be a problem anymore. If something like that happens again you can look into the SkyrimPrefs.ini and manually set your right graphics device. Edit:It should look like that:[Launcher]sD3DDevice="NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M" Edited November 26, 2016 by L3s7ing
Darylem Posted November 26, 2016 Author Posted November 26, 2016 Thanks, it just seemed a bit odd. There was a game update and may have been a driver update in the background.
