Moredhel
So here I am, playing on a 1h/shield warrior with light armor (skill around 50). I get in the fight, take 5 hits and I'm dead... I reload, put on some heavy armor (skill only 17 or 18) and find out I have way more armor than in my light gear. Confused, I step into the dungeon where I got killed before and am ready to test my heavy armor. I walk up to the same enemy, I don't grab my sword and shield and just stand there to take a beating. It takes the enemy 9 hits to take me down this time. Wtf? Why is heavy armor with a shite skill lvl better than light armor with a decent lvl AND several perks in it!? sarnz
It's why the army uses tanks rather than mini coopers
audioave10
I have light enchanted Dragon armor with a 741 rating. Staying light still gives some realism and improves movement. I prefer playing and knowing that I can still die.
Tsixth
Probably cause light armor tends to have powerful dps enchants on it, not meant for pure tanking. Correct me if I'm wrong but save for those dragon priest masks, I haven't found any heavy gear with as good enchants as say : Nightingale? Or Dark brotherhood gloves with x2 sneak/backstab damage that lets you obliterate stuff with daggers. Besides, by late game, you can easily hit the armor cap (567/80% reduction) with some upgrades. Mhort
Light armor works pretty well when you have good sneaking skills! Most of my enemies don't even see me... Well when they do, there is always a decoy to take the damage! :teehee:
Moredhel
Oh btw, this aint about sneaking, enchants or whatever ;) Just improved elven armor (light armor skill 50-ish) vs basic steel armor... (heavy armor skill 17 or 18) where the latter wins armorpoints-wise. Edited December 28, 2011 by Moredhel
KyuubiNoYouko
Because no matter how well you wear it: Iron, Steel > Leather, FurThis makes me sad panda :(Don't be, there are some awesome perks for Light Armor which you can get at higher level. Btw: Elven Armor looks like some light thin metal. Sharp steel can probably penetrate it like butter. spets21
light armor is not meant to have high defense but to be able to be more agile(stamina wise) hence the expression "Lightly armoured means light in your feet. Smart" if you are aiming for godlike defense then you should wear heavy instead of light with dual enchants and legendary upgrades then your pretty much set to tank anything. just my 2 cents
