TimF
You don't need to actually read em, just "use" them. And I think, there are only 2 quests you get from being a bookworm. Also, you can clearly see which books are useful by checking their value. Edited December 28, 2011 by TimF
stars2heaven
But there are some nice stories to read :P No, really. Im serious, there are several pretty good stories. Plus you learn a little about lore. It seems to me there is a lot more to Skyrim than is evident in the regular game. Skryim was once home to Barenziah, played numerous major roles in the Empires history, including it's very creation, and tons of other things. Also, you can clearly see which books are useful by checking their value. There were two I read from a bandit camp that lead me to the location of a treasure chest, but I actually had to read the contents, not just open the book. So the OP is correct, reading the contents can point the way to more stuff sometimes.
IndorilTheGreat
I found one in the wilderness, and I immediately got hooked. Now I'm running around trying to find a copy of of Palla, Book II. One of my favorites is Chimarvamidium. It's a classic. :P

RitchieTheMerc
Yeah, some of the stories Beth put in Skyrim are really nice. One of my personal favourites is The Black Arrow, Volume 1. I have yet to find Volume 2 :(
