dyfed99
Well, I've some questions.1) I want to buy two 8800 gts with 512mb, but I'm not sure.. I will have 1024mb of Vram then?2) It seems Vista doesn't manage very well SLI configurations cause MS has released a patch since the OS seemed to run just 1 GA and not both. I will get some issues, maybe?3) I've bought an OEM 64bit Vista ultimate. I'm not really sure this is been a good choice. I'll get any issues since it isn't 32 bit? With any games, I mean..4) I want to buy an Asus P5N-T since my dealer doesn't have the Striker or the EVGA NF78 in his list. Again, it's a good choice? I feel not..Any suggestions, guys? :thanks: ..in advance!

Have you given any thought to an nVidia 9600GT instead? http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html...W50aHVzaWFzdA==2) Ahh... Vista. How I hate Thee. Will it ever be as good as WinXP? Makes you wonder since MS released info that they are going to release a new Windows OS beyond Vista. They realized at last that Vista did not turn out quite the way they or the consumer had originally expected & so are back to making a brand new OS from the ground up. As to your question, i'm sorry that I don't have an exact answer for you. 3) I'm sorry, but your fears are correct. The 64-Bit version of Vista Ultimate is indeed buggy. There are a wide range of well known problems with that version of Microsofts OS. From lack of network support to random crashes to overall poor performance & stability. However, with some consumers, it's hit & miss. Several of my clients have that same version as well & have had no problems, at least not as bad as some end users have had. Too late to return it? Have you already installed it or opened the packaging? People have reported that MS:VU runs much faster when their CD/DVD drives are disconnected, as well as any external storage devices, such as external HDD's or Flash Drives. 4) The Asus P5N-T is a good motherboard, but there are a few different versions. The Asus P5N-T Delux & the Asus P5NT-WS for example. Some people have had issues with keeping both the North & South bridge chips cool with the stock cooling that comes with the Asus P5N-T Delux board. When overclocked, the stock cooling at times simply does not provide enough cooling, which can quickly lead to system instability. Why not order the motherboard you want online & bypass your local retailer? Tell me which country you live in & i'll help you find an online retailer that will deliver to your area. Never "Settle" for anything. The Striker is an excellent motherboard from what I have read & I have always been a fan of the NF7. Ever since my old Abit NF7-S. (Apples & Oranges I know) Decisions.. decisions.. decisions.. :D -MRG
Sophosaurus
ahm, NO, you won't. No matter how many cards you assemble in any given SLI or CF setup you alway have just the amount of memory the weakest single card is equipped with. SLI and CF renders alternating frames on alternating cards which means each card has to do the full job as if there were no other cards at all. Therefore memory doesn't add up. On the other side, game developers optimise their engines for what they assume to be available on most machines which is 256 to 512 MB. You won't see any difference in performance using more than that as long as you don't mod your games with higher resolution textures.

Thats what I get for not thinking before I type or re-reading before posting.
