HarryD
I'm coming back to Skyrim after Bethesda released the "Special Edition".I have the original version of Skyrim with Hearthfires, Dawnguard and Dragonborn installed. I have a couple mods installed using the Nexus Mod Manager. I've read about using LOOT to make sure the load order is correct. I ran LOOT and it's showing me that there are missing references and navmeshes.Do these need to be cleaned? They appear to be the files from Bethesda and not from a mod. Did a mod I install delete/change a file and LOOT is seeing that? Would I need to clean these?I also have TES5Edit and Wrye Bash installed. I have installed: (not my load order)RealVision ENB 279bUnofficial High Resolution PatchUnofficial Skyrim Legendary PatchA Quality World Map and Solstheim Map - with roadsSky UI Edited November 28, 2016 by HarryD
Algabar
First of all: Welcome back to Skyrim! The files marked as "to be cleaned" are indeed the original files released by Bethesda. The dirty edits do not pose a problem in unmodded games (and probably won't break your game either, if you only have a few mods installed). If you plan on adding more mods though and/or if you're using Wrye Bash, you should clean them to prevent trouble. Here's a step by step guide on how to clean your master files with TES5Edit:https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/2667094-guide-manual-cleaning-skyrim-master-files/ Here's a video guide including some background information on why it's a good idea to clean the original files created by Bethesda: Some things to remember:1. Let Steam check and - if needed - update your game files ("Verify integrity of game cache" in Steam) first. Just to make sure your installation of Skyrim is up to date.2. Backup the files you're working on - just in case something goes wrong.OFC you can also get the original files back by letting Steam "verify integrity of game cache" again.3. DO NOT clean "skyrim.esm" - only clean "update.esm" and the DLCs as explained in the guides.4. DO NOT "verify" your files again with Steam after the cleaning process - you will get the old, "dirty" files back again... HarryD
Thanks for the reply.I'll be installing more mods as I see fit. I installed a few to begin with so I can understand how the tools work.I'll be installing more mods in the future. I watched some youtube videos and I know what I'd like to install.I wanted to start small, it wouldn't be too good if I had about 100 mods installed and kept getting a CTD because of some random file. Skyrim is updated to the latest version, checked that before installing any modding tools. Edited November 28, 2016 by HarryD
HarryD
Cleaned the master files with TES5Edit while following the tutorial. Ran LOOT again and no errors were found. Edited November 28, 2016 by HarryD
