Craftable Torches

I'm trying to make torches craftable in a mod, but can't seem to get it to work.

I made a simple crafting recipe in SkyEdit that let me get one piece of charcoal for two pieces of firewood at the smelter, because I need the charcoal to make weapons in JaySuS sword mod. This was as easy as could be. But for some reason I can't make torch recipes that work, even though I make them the exact same way as I did the charcoal recipe.

For simplicity's sake I tried making the recipe 1 firewood to get 1 torch01 (which is the regular torch that your character use) in SkyEdit. No go. I tried making a separate recipe for every one of the crafting stations (including the cooking pot!). Didn't work. I even tried making a new torch (called CraftedTorch01), identical to the existing one, and then get that from the recipe. Still nothing.

What am I missing?

After some research, it seems that LIGH objects (the torches are LIGH objects) are not valid as craftable output objects. Not sure why, most likely won't be explained until the toolset is out either.

So the solution for now may be to create a new item (like a ring or something) with candlelight effect from Alteration spells? If it works then we could make a new item with the torch's mesh+texture and the candlelight effect applied automatically. Can someone try this?

Great research, Sunnie! At least I now know why it didn't work. I guess it's back to impatiently waiting for the CK...

I looked at what you suggested, Silver, but the entry fields in SkyEdit for LIGH resources and other stuff, like rings (ARMO), are completly different, so I can't even begin to try it. Maybe someone more skilled can solve it in some clever way.

A comment I made in the other LIGH thread:

Until the toolset is released, we really don't know if making craftable (includes enchantable) light sources are going to be possible without a ton of scripting. It certainly isn't possible in the current crafting system at this point.

Have some patience, the toolset will be out very soon now, and with it, answers to a ton of questions.
