kronaras
I am looking for someone who can tell me where i can find the item names in order to replace some items. For example: in order to replace the dark brotherhood armor i make a folder "dbarmor" and inside i add the .nif files "dbarmortorso_0.nif" and "dbarmortorso_1.nif" But where can i find the names for all the .nif in order to replace an item? More specifically i am looking for the file names of "Shrouded Hand Wraps" and "Shrouded Shoes" (not boots, but shoes). Can someone help me please? scrivener07
Well your right. Ive never used SkyEdit before and I would have expected the program to tell me which nif these items are using but its not.. Shouldnt be to hard to figure out though. We already know this is clothing and not armour even though its type is "heavy". Lets take a look at the meshes in the bsa. With BSA Browser I looked under "\meshes\clothes\robedarkbrotherhood" and have found the files above. btw there is also female variants if you look. IMO it must be one of these so I extracted them all. Now Ive got all these nifs and I think the file your looking for is one of the highlighted ones. All versions of the shoes and glove files look the same in Nifskope to me so maybe someone who knows more can chime in.

y652
hey, i just did something quite awesome after reading this thread. i downloaded the eisen armor standalone, but i wanted to make it the default armor for my housecarl. i tried to use the npc editor, but it only show the original skyrim armors (not the standalone, but i think replacer armor mods works fine). because the eisen falls under ebony category, i tried to change the niff files names according to the bsa viewer names for ebony armors. but then they have the same names! so i tried to change the folder name to (ebony) without brackets, then made a folder (f) without brackets inside, then copy all the niff files under it. after that i copied the whole (ebony) folder into meshes. did the same for texture files. load the game, and it works! i'm really happy! then i started thinking about doing the same thing to my other downloaded standalone armors. the problem is now naming the folder. say if i tried to make the karliah standalone armor (from hentai) to replace steel armor, should i just rename both the texture folder and meshes to (steel) according to the bsa viewer names -meshes\armor\steel- or i could rename it anyway i can? because i downloaded an ancient nord replacer armor, and the meshes folder name is (draugr) which is ok, but the texture folder name is (omegared99). i cant think of how the game connects between the two folder to replace the original armor since it have different names. or is it connected by the names of the texture files and the names of the niff files? and also should i include an (f) folder to make the armor only female? because in the texture and meshes folder of the ancient nord armor there is no (f) folder but it works fine (it replaces the female version of the armor) or i just leave both texture and meshes folder names alone to my imaginations, and change the name of the niff files to the one shown in bsa viewer. but what about the texture files? should i rename them too? how? (i mean not how to rename the file but how to make a name that will connect the niff to the texture files) -sorry for the long post. this stuff is really confusing since im not a modder. btw the main point is im trying to make the standalone eisen armor to be a replacement for ebony armor by just changing the folder names. then i would use the npc editor to change lydia default armor to ebony, in which was already changed to eisen and it works fine. now im planning to do the same thing for iona, but her armor would be another standalone which im planning to make it a replacement for orcish armor. -edit = i found it!!! i can just change the mesh folder, rename the niff files where neccessary, but leave the texture folder alone (i copied it to the texture folder, but i didn't rename it). and it works! amazing! ^^ sorry for finding it out myself and now this long post have now become useless. --' Edited February 6, 2012 by y652
