Solvaring
Has anyone realized how crappy the maneuverability with horses is in Skyrim? Is there a mod out there to fix this? When I back up with my horse I want my horse to take a few steps backwards, not make a U turn. This is seriously annoying if I'm near the edge of a cliff there is no way to get my horse away without running off the edge. I have to use the console command "moveto player" after i dismount and move away but if I'm too much off the edge than I can't even dismount and have to use "Setpos Axis #" It's also annoying because I like to set the speedmult of my horse up to 200 and the already horrid maneuver scheme becomes 200 times worse with the speed upped @_@ anyways, am i the only one who has a problem with this? I must admit, the horses in red dead were more or less spot on, I think/hope there'll be a mod for better horse manuverability(spell?) aswell
Meisterchief
Horses? What horses? You can buy horses? Yeah, I've never noticed them in the game. You can buy so many better things than a brain-dead horse that can barely walk properly. In my opinion, simply sprinting allows you to go at a pretty decent speed and negate all of the annoying glitches that come with riding a dysfunctional pony. Solvaring
Sometimes I just set my speedmult up on my character but I prefer riding a horse for the role-play and immersion aspect.
Fatalmasterpiece
They might as well have left horses out of the game.
csgators
They might as well have left horses out of the game. This. Ditto in Oblivion.
Hun0410
I often wonder why they did not look at red dead redemption for inspiration for a lot of things, especially horse-riding. It may be a limitation of the engine though, which means no mod can fix it.
AnArcticAnt
Limitation of the engine? That's horse crap, horses were fine in Oblivion from what I can remember. (Manoeuvrability-wise anyway.)
surg23
They might as well have left horses out of the game. I agree, they did such a terrible job with the horses. I find the Horse control system infuriating to use, not to mention the physics in general, the animation and speed looks totally unrealistic and quite silly. Add to this, the severe lack of interaction between the player and Horse, no horse whistling/calling, no feeding the horse, no petting the horse. Horse combat behavior is nothing but a hindrance, they also take way too much damage from falling. Come to think of it, you really coulden't find a worse example of horse riding in any game. Bethesda should just purchase the Horse content from Mount & Blade and port it directly into Skyrim. Mount & Blade's Horse riding is perfect and would mesh nicely with Skyrim. They failed so hard with this, that i agree they should have just left it out of the game. If you cannot do something right ... don't do it at all.
