Why do you think the Stormcloaks won't attack the Thalmor?

Let me go over some facts...

Thalmor fights Empire and weakens them into submission...

Empire is told to ban Talos worship by the Thalmor...

Stormcloak rebellion is formed to destroy the Empire...

High King Torygg is "defeated" by Ulfric Stormcloak...

Here's my opinion:

The ban of Talos worship is not the Empire's fault, it's the Thalmor!

Ulfric only wants to destroy the Empire to take the position of high-king, he doesn't care about the Thalmor enough to attack them!

If Ulfric really wanted to unban Talos worship he should attack the Empire's oppressors! They made the law!

How does Ulfric have supporters? He brainwashed thousands of Nords to fight Empire, and in their views, the banners of Talos worship.

Do you guys think my thoughts are accurate? Do you think there's another reason he doesn't attack the Thalmor?

I see plenty of other reasons to fight the Empire, and it's not as though the Thalmor aren't targets. They are. They just aren't the first priority since it is through the Empire that they are able to operate in Skyrim. Get rid of the Empire and you get rid of the Thalmor, atleast for a time.

As for reasons to fight the Empire:

They act as puppets of the Thalmor throughout Skyrim. Who cares if they (the empire) don't like it either? They still are.

The Empire is a failing entity, and it is pulling Skyrim down with it. Remember the line from Ulfric's little speach about why he fights? He lists some pretty compelling reasons. Maybe they can't resist the Thalmor without the Empire. But that doesn't change the fact that Skyrim suffers under it's rule, and to the people of Skyrim, it seems like they get very little in return.

Personally I think that Ulfric did the right thing, no matter what his real intentions are, but he chose a really bad time to do it. (of course if all he wants is to be king it couldn't be a better time to do it) Skyrim just won't have what it takes to take on the Thalmor if they come knocking at the door. Then they will be far worse off than they are now.

Ulfric doesn't care about Talos worship being outlawed, or at least it's not his prime priority, he only cares about the throne of the High King. Bothering the Thalmor won't help there, his forces can't be stretched out to try and drive them out of Skyrim. Besides, assuming Ulfric ever did get the throne (pray to Talos he won't), he would simply have the Empire (and everyone else) out of his country. This would probably include the Thalmor (unless he befriended them, or vice versa, which wouldn't seem entirely unlikely), but as of now, it's a sort of "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" as far as he and the Thalmor go.

In short, Ulfric is a short-sighted fool and the Thalmor like it that way.

Because Ulfric only cares about being the High King? That's the only logically conclusion with the information given so far.

That's just my thoughts, what do you think?

Yes, that part made me mad too. I didn't hate the Jarl of Whiterun because he really wasn't given a choice, I mean if he picked the Empire, Stormcloaks would attack him; if he picked the Stormcloaks the Empire would attack him.

I dunno... I think Ulfric is a pretty selfish guy. Especially once I listened in on him talking to his mate, the guy in the Officer armor. He was very selfish and sounded like he cared little for the common-folk of Skyrim. I don't approve of how little respect Ulfric gave to the dead, too. He spouts off about the "sons and daughters" of Skyrim, and yet he murdered them in the streets of Whiterun outright. Then, Ralof had the balls to say "I'm pretty sure I killed more than you. I was counting." I know this is a LOTR reference, but they were killing something far more sinister in that scenario, lol.

I can't help but feel like Ulfric is power-hungry. Especially since he killed one of the weakest Jarl's in the whole province, just to prove a point! (and the high king was a known loyalist to Ulfric, to boot!)

Ulfric really is a bastard is what you say is true. Torygg supported Ulfric? Noooo... Wait, and when did he kill Balgruuf, if that's what you're saying.

Yeah, the high king really was a supporter of his cause! And sorry, I meant the high king as a Jarl---one in the same, Jarl/High King. (since he was leading Solitude)

Basically I was saying Ulfric killed the High King, who is still considered a Jarl---even though he was a supporter of the true sons and daughters of Skyrim and their cause. The High King was very young, too, so it looks bad on Ulfric for slaying a CHILD with the sacred Thu'um... I mean, he speaks so strongly about the true citizens of Skyrim and their right to claim Skyrim back and resort to old customs, and yet... he killed a true son of Skyrim with the most sacred of all Nord legends.
