Adorelody
Hi,Very new to this and unless there is a simple way to do what I want then I'll just wait until the experts come out with something. I have installed (working fine) the "CBBE Master Mage Robe Replacer with CBBE Nocturnal Robe" http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3042 I like it because it's nice looking and it has the stats that come with the Master Mage. I would like to go a step further and change it to transparent like this: Nocturnal Ghost Clothes -CBBE version- http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3254 In this add-on Ryhpez goes on to mention: If you want to replace any other clothes/armors, for example, you want all glass armor worn by females to look like these clothes instead, you simply have to do the following steps:1. Create a " meshes / armor / glass / f / " folder if you do not have 1 already.2. Copy "outfitf_0.nif" and "outfitf_1.nif" into that folder.3. Rename both of those copied files to "cuirass_0.nif" and "cuirass_1.nif" respectively. I've tried to do this to the CBBE Master Mage Robe" with no luck. Can someone explain the steps to get the Mage Robe to be transparent like the Nocturnal ones? Just a side note: I take no credit for any of these great mods. All the credit goes to the proper authors. Edited December 30, 2011 by Adorelody
Perraine
What directory did you create under meshes? AFAIK the Master Mage robe is classed as 'clothes' by the game so maybe try " meshes\clothes\archmage\f " with "archmagerobesf_0.nif " and "archmagerobesf_1.nif " Once it actually shows up in game with the mesh you wanted, you can edit the textures with Gimp, PhotoShop, Paint.net or any other image editor that supports .dds files
STSG
Just extracting 2 copies of outfitf_0.nif and outfitf_1.nif from Ryhpez's mod to data/meshes/clothes/magejourneyman and renaming them to magejourneymanrobesf_0.nif and 1stpersonmagejourneymanrobesf_0, magejourneymanrobesf_1.nif and 1stpersonmagejourneymanrobesf_1.nif respectively should do the trick. The textures would be nocturnal's default ones. If you want those found in the master mage replacer (if they are any different from default of course, i haven't checked), just move or copy robes.dds and robes_n.dds from that file to data/textures/clothes/nocturnal foulder and rename them to outfitf.dds and outfit_n.dds. mjmercer
Well I just did everything you suggested with the mesh file being very careful on the files and names. I could make the robe but when I would equip it I crashed out of the game. So I did the second part with the textures. I didn't have a "nocturnal" folder so I created one. It still crashed out. I them tried to put them in the folder I did have which is: clothes/magejourneyman and still it crashed out. I reinstalled the Master Mage Robe replacer and I have the Blue dress back. Its nice looking so I'll live with it but I hope someone adds a transparent version some day. I think it would look hot...
runestyr
Here's a 2-minute fix. I think it took longer to write about how to do it, than to actually do it. Download & extract the transparent Nocturnal Mod. Load that mod's texture outfitf.dds into Gimp (with the DDS plug-in installed). Don't load MipMaps.Open the Color Balance menu, select highlights, and slide the Blue to maximum. Leave Preserve Luminance checked, unless you want a really light blue. Play with the other sliders for different shades of purple or whatever you like.Save the file to somewhere else with DTX5 compression, generating MipMaps. Copy the file to the clipboard.Go to your game path (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim) and drill down to (or create) \Data\textures\clothes\nocturnal, rename the outfitf.dds that's there if there is one, and paste the file you made to that folder.Install the mesh from the transparent Nocturnal into whatever folder matches the clothes or armor you're replacing, and name it appropriately. This is necessary because the mesh has the data that tells the game to use (or not use) the alpha channel in the texture. But, the mesh file will still reference the correct texture.Play. The resulting robe is a cool blue whose transparency makes it look hot. This is only a quick fix, since the color rebalancing messes with the gold trim and such. Disclaimer: I didn't check with the owner of the transparent Nocturnal Mod to see if this procedure is allowed because there's no ReadMe.txt. But since I'm not distributing the changes, just telling you how to make them, I hope that's okay.
