Miltiades39
Hi everyone, I am experiencing a strange problem with OBGE (v3 Core + Standalone Effects). I started using it a few days ago, everything went pretty much perfect. After adding a few mods, OBGE stopped working. I tried just about everything possible, but still no banana. Then I noticed something strange, namely, that when I load an older save, OBGE works as it should (I use only Godrays.fx and NormalFilterAA.fx manually through shaderlist.txt, .esp is disabled). So with the same Oblivion build (ingame options, mod selection and settings, etc.), some (more recent) savegames do not load with OBGE effects and some (older) savegames do. Can anyone help please? Thank you in advance.

Thank you in advance. It would greatly help us by mentioning your system specs along with what mods you actually are using. Did you try enabling the mod one at a time to see what is causing the issue? Are you using OBMM or Wrye Bash? Do you use BOSS? Which version of OS are you using and where did you install your game? Is the game retail with discs or steam version?
Miltiades39
Hello and thanks for responding! System specs are as follows: AMD Phenom II x4 965 3.4Gz, 4GB RAM, Geforce 460SE 1GB, Win 7 64. I use just about everything you mentioned (OBMM, Wyre Bash, BOSS). Steam version. As the mods go, I use OOO, All Natural, Unique Landscapes, Quarl Texture Pack, OBSE, OBGE. Sorry for not mentioning the usuall stuff, but what strikes me as peculiar is that some saves do work and some don't. If I load an older save, my system specs, loaded mods, steam or non-steam version of the game, installation directory etc. are no different to more recent saves. That's why I find it so strange. Not a problem. How do you load your game? Since you are playing via steam I read somewhere that you need obse steam loader. Do you use that also? I think I read something like enabling community option something in steam also. Might want to consider trying that if you haven't already. If it doesn't work, I can't help further maybe someone with more experience with steam might. BTW, did you install the game and steam in the default programs folder in C:\ or different folder? Miltiades39
Yup I have and use OBSE steam loader, community option is enabled. Game is installed in the default directory. I tried just about everything and the thing is, that if there is any problem, it shouldn't work at all! But how come that it works with some saves. Should there be any conflict with other mods, it shouldn't work at all. Should the OBSE be incorrectly installed/used, it shouldn't work at all. OBGE.ini file is the same for all the saves (I assume). So how on earth does it work with some saves and doesn't with other, if all things having any impact (activated mods, load order, operation system, system specs, all .ini files, etc.) are the same in both instances. Ah that might be the problem. :hurr:  Not 100% sure but UAC might be interfering with your game because it assumes that the game and mods are harming the program directory which UAC is to protect. :( Might want to back up your save files and mods somewhere secure and reinstall your game and steam in C:\ outside of default directory or an entirely different partition such as D:\ if you have any. :excl: See here: http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Oblivion_reinstall_procedure. But do this if you can't find any other solution as a last resort.
