Realistic damage?

3 Reasons I can't play skyrim on anything other than a mage: Bows are ineffective, and weapons aren't as effective as they should be. Also, when I fus ro dah someone into a wall, I expect them to die, not to stand up. Anyone know if it is possible to make these more realistic?

I don't think you realize the inaccuracy of your own post. My daedric swords do 150 damage from improvements alone. If I drink some potions and put on some enchantments onto the swords and my other equipment to improve my damage then I easily would one hit kill everything.

I hear bows are pretty bad ass too. For you your weapons suck, for me my magic sucks. I can do about 75-100 damage on average with my spells. That is actually pretty high imo but I can only cast one or two depending on what the spell is.

What about when you get blown into a wall.. Happens to me pretty often, then the bastards hit me with arrows.

I'd love to play Skyrim with a realistic combat mod, but creating such a mod would be difficult, especially with those stupid +100% damage perks.

A better combat system would greatly improve the game for me.

Onehanded swords should be fast, but not good at penetrating heavy armours. That's what maces, twohanded swords and hammers are there for. Arrows too shouldn't be able to scratch heavy armor, but unfortunately, someone threw out one of the most effective weapon: the crossbow. Halberds too are missing, although there was an Oblivion polearm mod.

Maybe when the CK is out, I will toy around with some values to improve the gameplay for me.

It really depends on the material the arrow is made out of, its momentum and the material it is about to hit + its thickness. Since all those extra properties of matter are unavailable in this game and it would be an absurdly massive undertaking to add them.. it would be good if we at least had damage zones.

For arrows we could give them pretend weights, give the bows speeds if possible and thus come up with a fake momentum to determine the damage.
