Rank Related Greetings

I would love a mod that makes people check if you are a member of a faction before their greeting.

For example I completed the Imperial quest line which results in the rank of Legate yet I still get grief from imperial guards (the best I can hope for is a Hello Citizen) rather than them acknowledging my superiority in rank to them.

Similarly getting to be thane should result in the holds guards refering to you as such in their greetings.

Why be Arch-mage if no one notices?

Any comments?

Rank-specific greetings were possible in Morrowind, but deactivated. It was great to be treated with a little bit of respect (Archmagister of House Telvanni).

When the Creation Kit comes out, we can look into the Skyrim dialogue files, although I doubt Bethesda has created and hidden greetings.

It is just so lame that Bethesda didn't do it.

Each Jarl says "I will inform my guards" but this as far as I see just allows you to get away with the odd crime, if you are law abiding it has no effects and doesn't change the way they react to you.

I get quite tired and want to cause them a bit of pain when they tell me I look sneaky.

And the next nord who asks me if as the new companion do i fetch the drinks is going to get my size 10 Harbingers foot up his ass.

Every now and then, at least in the Legion, other soldiers will greet you by rank. This does not go for city guards, however, they'll still go "Stay out of trouble" and "Disrespect the law and you disrespect me".

Once the CK comes out, I'd like to see a mod that makes city guards acknowledge your rank in the Legion, in Holds that are aligned to the Empire.

I suppose there will be a way to get the NPC to check if they are in the same faction or in a specific category then force a greeting which respects your rank should be simple if/then work. After all guards check if you are bountied up.

I would be quite happy if the more insulting greetings were removed as it tends to make me want to pull out a weapon and cause some carnage...

Yes please... Everytime I pass by and receive a snide comment, I want to show them the meaning of respect.

I OWN the underground of Skyrim! D:< I demand respect!

And thus begins random killing sprees which I instantly regret as there are no more NPCs in town. ._.;

I'll support the idea, this is exactly what we need.

Adding greetings is possible and if the dialogue system can check your rank to spit out the appropriate greeting, it is most likely possible to check other flags. NPCs in Morrowind could react to your clothings' value (funny if it was 0), rank in several guilds, race and so on.

Therefore, it should be possible to make a proper mod for Skyrim which checks your status with several guilds and suggests a proper greeting.

One problem remains though: where to get the voice files from? We need different speakers for all the races and genders. If it's not done by Skyrim's speakers, it will sound a bit awkward when an NPC greets you with a new greeting and then starts speaking with another voice. That's why I'm not a fan of voiced dialogue -> trouble for modders.
