Windmaker13
Yup, I have just launched GECK for the first time and started to play with it just to edit face of my character. I have found few tutorials on how to create face and so on. But as I'm 100% newbie in fallout modding tools I would like to ask for help with one thing I have created a nice character in ingame creator but I want to adjust it a little - few things like cheekbones and mouth. I have found proper tool in GECK but I only know how to create a new face when I want to adjust one created by me in game - so import it from savegame to GECK and rework. I know that probably it was explained many times - and probably I have read about it - but all instructions I get are a little bit too difficult for me as a new one :D So can someone write/move me to the instruction step by step what I have to do to change existing pc face from savegame in advanced way as in GECK? And how to import it to GECK and then export it to savegame. Looking for your help :) And wish you a happy new year!
micalov
Step 1: You want save game ripper Open your save and copy the 3 rows of text somewhere safe like a txt document Step 2: Create a preset/template NPC in GECK that is the same race in geck edit an existing just make sure you change the editor ID to something unique and check "is preset", then save it as an ESP. Step 3: Download FNVEdit and open your ESP. Find the NPC in the NPC list and select it them copy and paste the 3 lines of text from the txt document to the NPC then cntrl+s to save, then close the app. The NPC facial data is shown in the screenshot below. http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/5284/64258556.th.jpg After that it should have the default face data from your present save file, so you can edit as you like and having is preset checked means it will be a preset in character showracemenu option. Windmaker13
Ok let me check it: Step 1: You want save game ripper Ok, I have it and 3 lines copied. Step 2: Create a preset/template NPC in GECK that is the same race in geck edit an existing just make sure you change the editor ID to something unique and check "is preset", then save it as an ESP. Slowly :D I'm clicking File>Data> and then Fallout3.esm and then ok to switch on everything. Then go to Actors>NPC section and right click on list then New and in window I have I'm writing ID - how can I check if my ID is unique? And how long it should be - 6 signs? And where is "is preset" checkbox? Because I'm not sure if I look in right place for it, because there is nothing like that here. And if my ingame character is caucasian female I just change in that NPC window - ID, Race, checkbox female in Traits menu and nothing more? And rest I didn't check yet: Step 3: Download FNVEdit and open your ESP. Find the NPC in the NPC list and select it them copy and paste the 3 lines of text from the txt document to the NPC then cntrl+s to save, then close the app. The NPC facial data is shown in the screenshot below. FO3edit I guess will be also good :) I'm opening only one file - the one I have created. I follow your instructions add those date save it. And then Step 4 launch GECK, File>DATA>my esp file after changes> and then I can edit it as I wish in GECK, then once again save it as esp file, add to my data folder in Fallout 3 folder and add it to FOMM and run the game - and then what I should do? micalov
Yes sorry FO3edit, my bad, head thumping from headache :P Character preset option is highlighted in the pic below. http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/3434/58216006.th.jpg Once you change the ID name press ok it will say the ID has changed,, create new entry and select yes, if its already used it will tell you. Once all your editing is done, you have loaded the ESP and ran FO3, open console, type "showracemenu", then check out the presets to find your face. Windmaker13
Ok I guess I'm going forward - somehow... Just make me sure - I have to work on Fallout 3. esm file yes? And save it as I wish? And as I followed your instructions to moment I'm loading back file to GECK I got such error: http://img849.imageshack.us/img849/6002/testgg.jpg When I click Stop - przerwij or Ignore-Ignoruj I have my files loaded and when I go to my character and go to Face menu I got this error: http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/5674/fdgfdhd.jpg And then GECK crashes... Where I made something wrong?
micalov
No clue why that is happening sorry, I have used the above method to create presets for NV and fo3 0_o
Windmaker13
Maybe it is related to loaded esp/esm files? I'm useing eyes and hair mods - maybe they are a problem? And do I have to work on fallout3.esm file? And if that won't work, Just tell me if I will create a new character like you wrote and save it to a plugin and add it to game as a face preset it'll be shown in showracemenu?
