Stumunro
Hi everyone, I'm about to start Skyrim for the first time... I'm gaming on a MBP (yes, I know) with an i7-4980HQ @ 2.8GHZ, GT 750 M (2gb GDDR5) & 16GB of ram. Overall, I believe my GPU performs similarly to the desktop GT 640 (but don't quote me on that). I'm looking to play on my 1080p monitor. I was wondering what you consider to be essential in terms of visual mods that won't bring my poor laptop to its sexy aluminium knees. Thoughts? SpaceBallzz
Essential are static mesh improvement mod, 2k textures, a water mod (realistic waters 2 is most people's favourite). For weather and lighting I recommend climates of tamriel. It's mostly for weather but does make some changes to lighting. Other lighting mods like elfx or rlo I think are too dark, even with a torch it can be almost impossible to get around dark caves, realistic I suppose but not fun. I have a very powerful pc but I only run these quite basic and hardware friendly mods and the game looks really good. I know it could look better but I'm new to modding and don't want to get in over my head. You can have a great experience with those few mods and they won't give you any headaches regarding compatibility and should get you a decent framerate. Govilku
Allow me to Educate people on 2k textures. On a laptop you WILL BURN your GPU running that and will barely notice the difference from 1k. Tamriel HD 1k. It is handmade original textures that are performance friendly and you can add Paralax to them. Use a fantasy ENB with it and you will be very pleased with a completely new lookin game.
