Shnissigga
About a year ago I embarked on an ambitious journey into the exciting experience of worldspace creation! I found through many failed attempts that the worldspace I had once hoped for was nothing more than a mere pipe dream, sadly that dream must be put to rest. Due to the limitations of both myself (as a G.E.C.K. developer) and the actual G.E.C.K. itself, I still have yet to even grasp how LOD creation works. I am stuck with similar issues other people are seemingly having as well. Mainly my issues are that I'm restricted to seeing both objects and land being visible within a 5x5 cell in-game, otherwise they (a building for example) disappear completely from the game until I move closer to them. I've concluded this is an issue with LOD, please correct me if I'm wrong. Because of this, I've tried creating LOD through the G.E.C.K. with the World LOD function/dialogue box, and again I've come to similar road blocks that others have come across. Mainly my issue here is that once I try to create world mesh LOD, this process seemingly freezes my G.E.C.K. I understand that sometimes it says (Not Responding) and yes it still is in fact working, however I don't believe this to be the case because the Task Manager reports the program only using 2.5% of my CPU or it will just eventually CTD. After many hours of research I've realized that the G.E.C.K. requires two different types of files in order for proper LOD to work, one hi-res (or close up file) and one lo-res (or far distance file). I've yet to find anything that helps me fix this issue and as a side note if anyone can turn me to the right direction that would be very much appreciated! However I have developed a pseudo-"workaround", where that I've decided to break up the DLC into three unique episodes emphasizing in puzzle/problem solving, character/story development, and intense scripted combat respectively. Each of the three episodes will still be connected with an overall main quest line, they just will be developed and released separate. Because I have decided to break up the entire DLC into three parts each episode can be reduced in size considerably. To this day, I've been using the worldspace I originally created for this DLC and as a result it's around 336 chunks. My goal is to hopefully reduce the amount of chunks in the existing worldspace, unfortunately I have yet to find ANY form of information on how to do this. Part of me is worried this can't be done, which is mind boggling as I don't even know how I got 336 chunks to begin with! I eventually want to be able to use the world LOD function, but I've realized that 336 chunks is overkill for the DLC I'm creating I've been messing around with the Worldspace Island NV mod and I've found this worldspace only have 4 chunks (which is easily large enough for my needs). My question is how are chunks determined in the G.E.C.K. and how do I reduce my worldspace chunks to a more workable level with the world LOD function. Thanks for spending the time to read this! Worldspace Island NV which can be found here: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38071 An out-dated description of my DLC can be found here if your at all interested. The current version has been greatly changed, and the storyline and characters have been further fleshed out... I am thinking of updating the post at some point with a revised edition of the DLC narrative. This will merely give you a taste of what will come. http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/305317-twin-peaksalan-wake-bright-peaks-new-zone/
