chunjr
This has worked for me so far. What works for me might not for you. That said, like many others, I've experienced CTD's, BSOD's, and even re-booting issues.I'm heavily modded i.e. using skse, tesval, various texture mods, all latest versions. Using modded ini files, running Skyrim ver. 1.3.10, running Ati drivers 12.1 preview. Also running Game booster 3.1, Win7 x64 sp2 home premium. Ultra high settings For my rig, I believe the problem begins with these settings set incorrectly in Skyrim.ini file: uGridsToLoad=7uInterior Cell Buffer=32uExterior Cell Buffer=64 fMasterFilePreLoadMB=128.0000iPreloadSizeLimit=262144000 I had uGridsToLoad=9, which is too high. Makes the hard drive work overtime because it's loading extra resources into memory. to make a long story short, here's what I did, in no particular order: Ran steam offlineDisable anti-virusDisabled windows searchDisabled windows indexingMade sure any software relating to hard drive operation is running i.e. IAstor.exe I just noticed that after each crash, the windows search index had to be repaired. Also made sense regarding my hard drive hanging up due to overload of high uGrid settings, Windows indexing the save files & settings, anti virus scanning while game is running... well, you get the picture... Only issue that I know of so far is I can't access directories via explorer.exe after game is closed and everything's restored. All I do is re-log back on & everything's back to normal.Been running a couple hours so far, no crashes(knock on wood.)BTW, using using above listed uGrid settings...
